This is a great video. I am in the last week of deer season in NW Florida and I've been hunting a huge buck that is one of the biggest bucks I 've seen here. If I harvest it, I'd definitely want a shoulder mount and I realized now is the time to learn how to do it right. Thank you for your simple, straight forward instructions.

Thanks. That was very helpful. I wish you wouldn't have cut out so many parts in the middle like how you actually wanted some of that peeled off after you cut down the arms, and how you actually cut the head off, but still one of the better videos I've seen so far. Thanks.

I killed my first trophy buck Thanksgiving day. While skinning it, my knife kept getting coated with fat. This caused it to appear dull. When I washed it off, it was just as sharp as when I started. I had to wash the fat off of it numerous times. What can I do to prevent this from happening again?

hey rodney could you do a video on how to treat a deer in velvet if you want it mounted, I'm about 3 hours south of you so it wouldn't be till the next day until i could drop it off to you. and with deer season right around the corner i want to know what you want done to it since I'm gonna start bring all my taxidermy work to you, and i passed up a buck in velvet last year on the first day since i didn't know what to do and where to bring it. I've had a couple bad experiences with dave taxidermy in weare, nh and others in southern nh. I've heard about the formaldehyde injections but thought it might be a good video for others to watch as well
@mtndeer6 жыл бұрын
Best thing to do when you get one is cape it, leave the head in it and stick the whole thing in a freezer. Anything you ever want to have mounted be very careful with it and get it in a freezer as soon as you can. Another thing is don’t drag the deer by the antlers when they are in velvet you can ruin them and pull the velvet right off.

Taxidermy has been around probably longer then farming . Every thing is symbolic and we choose our feelings and put them to what we want, in my experience. We are allowed to suffer anyone's actions, if we choose. I would well expect that one day this should be a kinder more gentle world. Critical people often share , unrealized similarities.
