My dad passed away recently and I know some people instantly buy a dog to "feel better" but I don't want to do that because before I even think of getting one, I want to know as much as possible about the shiba :)

I have a shiba inu almost 1 year old, I got her after my other dog of 14 years died, I love her so much, if you've had a dog before it honestly isn't as scary & tough as people make it out to be, but make sure to brush every week because they shed a lot 😂

My god its so true about shiba inus and escaping. My shiba inu loves to run away and we have to trick him with a leash saying were “going for a walk” When we find him. Whenever you try to chase after him he simply pauses then darts off because he thinks you’re playing with him.

@SuperShiba4 жыл бұрын
Hey Michael, check out the shedding video here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3rPhXeLbLqrpLM They typically shed 2 times a year and during shedding season you likely need to brush him daily and also vacuum to keep the space clean. Thanks for the comment and welcome to the channel 👍

I'm planning to get a Shiba, but since I have to go to school and all, I don't think that I will be able to take him exercise 3 times a day. But I after a day from school I could play and take him for a walk. Is it ok if I take him on the weekend for example Saturday we go walking and Sunday socializing and playing with other dogs? Tnx.
@SuperShiba4 жыл бұрын
Hi @kayel Calleja, typically for puppy development the first year is the most critical. in order to build a good and strong bond with your dog you do need to spend good amount of time to walk him, play with him and train him. It sounds like you might not have the ideal settings to get a new puppy. Getting a dog is a personal decision so ultimately it is up to your preferences but please make sure you are making a responsible decision and have ideal arrangement for your new puppy if decide to get one. Good luck👍

Alright thanks.

how many minutes do you walk with your shiba inu?! I really want to have a shiba but I want to know more specific details about what it is like to have this breed of dog to make a conscious decision. Please answer me, I will be eternally grateful 😊
@SuperShiba4 жыл бұрын
The short answer is as long as possible. It also depends on if you are getting a puppy or if he is an adult dog. For puppy you will need to go out more frequent short walks for potty. For grown up dog I typically walk Jimmy 3 times a day, each time at least 15 minutes but again if you have time to walk longer is better. I do have a playlist that talks about what you should know before getting a Shiba Inu so check it out - kzbin.info/aero/PLYagEnH2NyM9PmuO22MdVWW24wXOSjrud Good luck👍

Hi Claudia, thanks for the comment and welcome to the channel. The fence in this video is from Costco, they usually only have one option if in stock. When Jimmy was younger we use the playpen from amazon - amzn.to/2UD3paH

Shiba's do love to escape and are hard to catch. My grandpup is very empathic and is drawn to his humans when we are sad or sick, etc. he likes to comfort us. So knowing this, I have pretended to fall down and cried out in pain to get him to come over to me so I can grab him with his leash. I can't promise this will work for others but I just figured I'd mention it.
@SuperShiba4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Joe that is a great tip. Typically if your Shiba saw the human in pain or fell he will want to come and rescue the human so it could be a good technique when dog runaway.

Hi there, how did you train Jimmy not to bite the rose plants you have in your garden?
@SuperShiba3 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for the comment and welcome to the channel. We have a lot of plants and bushes in the yard and Jimmy never really bites any of them, He would mark on our plants but he won't bite any of the plant. If you have a puppy it is more likely that puppy uses its mouth to explore the world and puppy bites EVERYTHING until age of 6 months or so. Sorry I can't be helpful for your question and good luck 👍

I saw on your website that you got Jimmy from Oklahoma. Did you drive him all the way home to Washington?
@SuperShiba4 жыл бұрын
Hi SiriuslyRiddukulus, thanks for the comment and welcome to the channel. We didn't drive Jimmy from Oaklohoma. When Jimmy was 8 weeks he flew to Seattle, Washington and we picked him up at the airport. With the breeder selection I would encourage you to find a breeder close to your location. We did, however visited the breeder in person in Oaklohoma to select Jimmy when he was around 5 weeks but we did not drove him back from there.

If I give too many treats when the dog does something good, will he still accept me as leader?
@SuperShiba4 жыл бұрын
Haha it shouldn’t matter how many treats you give your dog. He will see you as a pack leader when you build up bonding with him, consistent on training with him and caring for him. It takes time and patience but once you have it it is worth it👍🏻
