Great video. Problem is, saltwater tanks need flow, but if you have an anemone, it seems you can't even use half the power of the power heads since anemones get whipped around.

How exactly do you make an anemone stick somewhere in the tank when you first get it?
@nickjames60708 жыл бұрын
Abner Sanchez They go where the want. when I put my rbt anemone in my tank I put it right on top of the rock under the light. within an hour it moved 2 inches to the left and hasn't moved since. I put mine in the tank a month after I started it and I don't think it liked the water quality because it disappeared in the rock holes. A month later it's still where it went but now is always out with its foot in a hole.

I started out with one rose bubble tip anemone 4yrs ago. I now have about 5 in the my 38 gal.tank with a very territorial maroon decorator clown. I have given away several when I have been able to catch them moving and they are on the glass or sand and have not yet attached themselves to the rocks. But I found its has become problematic in that they reproduce too fast and I grow very large and may soon have to actually give away my beautiful rocks to reduce the number of anemone. I am considering selling the clown and anemones and rocks to someone with a very large tank if I can find a buyer as my tank is too small for all this activity.

I listened twice but I missed the common name of the white anemone with the purple tips. Back in the mid-70s I had a common anemone (whose name I can't think of after this many years, and he had a full relationship with a percula clown. I'd throw a couple of juvenile guppies in the tank and the clown would immediately go catch one and stuff it right into the center of the anemone. That fascinated me as it was my first salt tank and I just didn't expect to hit upon a great symbiotic relationship between the two right from the start.

Bubble tips lose their bubble tips depending on flow. The less flow the fuller the bubble tips & the more flow the less bubble in the tips. The idea is to mimic nature & have high/low tide strong current every 12 hours for 30 to 60 minutes. The strong flow will help aerate the water & clear out the water column of debris/detritus/waist as in nature.

I just got a anemone and is moving all around and is hidden under the rock . What can I do?
@hashtastic35375 жыл бұрын
Leave it alone. Even if you move it, it's likely to move back into the spot you took it from. If you do try to move it, find a spot that's similar to the spot it's hiding in since it prefers the conditions in the spot it's in like flow and light intensity. Oh, and if it's on a piece of rock you might accidently tear it's feet off like in the video above. Just be careful.

I feed my anemones shrimp with a turkey baster (called spot feeding) gently put the turkey baster filled with the shrimp (fish food) frozen, and VERY slowly, let the anemone grasp on to the baster and then gradually let the fish float in to the anemone. The anemone will grab the shrimp with it's arms and pull it towards it's mouth and eat it. If they aren't used to it, it may take some time for them to catch on! I also use reef roids and reef food which are wonderful for them...
