You are awesome! This is such important information here! Where were you 20 years ago when I quit dyeing my hair? I had no clue about grey and white hair-none whatsoever! My whole life my hair has been super coarse, super thick, with each strand as thick as 6 normal hair strands. So I only a few months ago woke up that is absolutely not what I have now that it is nearly white. I am definitely a slow learner here! I quit dying my hair 20 years ago, probably when I hit 50+% grey like you said. NOW my hair is the complete opposite of everything my hair used to be. Ya look at my hair and it breaks! Ya think about heat and it breaks. …and falling out? Let me tell you about aging! It is getting thin! The hard water makes it feel like straw, clarifying make it feel like hair again but you aren’t kidding you gotta moisturize after. I need protein AND I need moisture. Your tips for leave in conditioner, etc is just what I needed! On my way to watch your video on porosity now. I am starting to think about getting a silver white wig. In fact that is how I found you…all your tips to save ratty dried out wigs. Knowing I can care for a wig is making me more willing to spring for one. Thanks! I am working my way through all your videos (including microblading-who knew there is actually help for my nearly disappeared eyebrows). You’re the best!

Love this video. I started graying at 30. Right at the front of my hairline and I hated it so I’ve been colouring my hair since. Now 15 years later I’m tired of the colouring process but I’m still struggling with the idea of embracing my grays, and think I’d prefer to a graduation of lighter colours into the grays. I love that you touched on that a little.

Ok I’m going to watch because it’s you. I’m 55yrs old, have had grey since 29yrs old but I’m not ready to give in. My grey frames my face, I hate it. I don’t mind so much the grey throughout but I’m still doing my roots to be consistent. This is my only bad hair process I’m still doing. I’ve been “natural “ for 10yrs. I’m dying my natural dark brown so not changing the color. I do have a steamer so I’m deep conditioning weekly, protein treatments 6-8 weeks, and keeps heat off my hair. Great I’m under 50%. Thanks Linwood.

Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you!! Finally someone that is educated about gray hair. I looked at tutorials on you tube about how to cover gray hair and the cosmetologists will not give you a straight answer! They'll just tell you what they did to achieve covering their client's gray. That does not help me nor does it address the issue. Then you have regular people like myself who have less than 50% gray hair and want to cover it up, but we haveto be tortured looking regularRhonda TRY and cover gray hair. My hair is getting grayer if that's a word, watching these tutorials with people bleaching and box coloring their gray hair. Thanks to you sharing your expertise about gray hair, I feel empowered to go ahead and try to do it at home. I wanna go lighter like a blonde instead of black. I've been blonde on and off since 1999 and it's the color I am most comfortable wearing. I'm going to gather my products and go for it! Thank you for this information❤ I’m 60 and I no longer relax or color my hair. It’s salt and pepper and shoulder length and tends to get dry. I mostly braid it and wear a wig but since it’s longer now, I straighten it out and set it with wire mesh rollers. I’m a licensed cosmetologist with some basic knowledge but dealing with my hair in its natural state is a challenge because I lived with relaxed hair for most of my life. I use purple based shampoo and conditioner but I use products for natural hair whenever I am wearing the wig but. I clarify my scalp and hair during the first shampoo because my scalp breaks out sometimes.

Great info and very helpful. It makes perfect sense to use color that causes the Grey to blend and a color that brings a stark contrast won't blend well with the Grey hairs that will grow back on the edges faster than you can recolor. For my clairol advanced Grey solutions I use a Chestnut brown instead of jet black. I was going to try jet black at some point but now after hearing from you I'll stick to the Chestnut brown which allows the Grey to blend instead if trying to hide it all together. As always thank you for your help!!!!

Thank you, thank you. I have been searching for a product to get yellow green out of my clients' gray hair. This worked wonderful. I have been using Banta yellow out after her relaxer. I cannot find this product. And your remedie work😊🎉

Extremely helpful! I now know the proper terminology for what I've been trying to describe. It did make me sad. I miss you! Truly my soul mate hairstylist. 😪

98% gray, low porosity, I use a steamer. I do not color or chemical relax my hair. I use clarifying (jacked with ayurvedic) shampoo. My hair is mostly white not gray but very thick. It's crazy but I'm figuring it out. (Old pic...don't judge lol).

You hair advice for grey was a real eye opener, especially your explanation of how a perm can cause a yellowish tone. Every bit of you information was valuable. I am more than 50% grey I have always had thick coarse 4c hair. . I still have thick coarse hair but the grey seems a bit softer. I have a mild perm on my hair because I was not sure how all this grey would react and I had been wearing my natural hair for the past 3 years. It soften my hair. I flat iron with heat setting at 380 I did not want to burn my hair because I still have color on the ends of my hair I pre condition my hair with a plug in conditions cap, is it okay to continue this? My hair seems to be thriving.

I am grayt but not by choice. it got to the point that I my hair was only picking up the base so I took that as a sign from GOD to stop coloring. I have not colored for about 2+ years and I get compliments on my grayt regularly and so many people say they wish their hair would turn the color of mine. My original hair color was blue black (you could see the blue when I was in the sun), about bra strap length and course. A friend found the first gray strand when I was 15. By the time I was 40 I was over 50% gray. You are correct in everything you said about trying to cover the gray. It ain't easy and for me not worth it. Thank you for you for sharing your knowledge. I am so glad I found your channel.

J Mo, this is what happened to me. Colored my hair and it came out pink. ☺ That was IT. Been grey since my early 50's and loving it. 🌹🌈🎶
