I just have to say I absolutely love the format you use for your videos - no loud intros, no fluff, just talking snakes and showing us what we need to know. Thanks for all you do Chris!

I’ve given up on perlite and vermiculite. The last 4 or 5 seasons I’ve gone to having two levels of light diffusers and filling tap water up to top of first light diffuser. I have no holes in tubs and I make sure the press and seal is tight, because if it dips then the water has a spot to drip. I take off the press and seal the last week because they’re building enough heat to produce enough humidity. Have had great success so far. Good luck with your season

With perlite I add water till the water level is halfway up the perlite and completely seal the top with press and seal, put in incubator and forget till day 55. Never had an issue

What type of water do you use to mix with the vermiculite? I think using regular tap water helps prevent mold because of the chlorine in it.

If your gonna leave an opening in your egg boxes, then add an open bucket or tub of water in the incubator and it will stop the condensation

Great 411. I set the boxes up very similar. I do notice the boxes sweat on the inside. Can they sweat throughout the gestation period so long as the eggs have no direct contact with that moisture?

Eggs looking good. With the variants on height in your incubator I just wonder if you have enough fans to circulate the air. I worked at a hatchery and the amount of fans was ridiculous I thought but we had on average a 94 percent hatch rate
@pumpkinchow2 жыл бұрын
He should make a incubator like mine I’ve always had 100% hatch rate and it holds 100% humidity and temp is always spot on. I’ve hatched monitor eggs python eggs and some skink eggs and gecko eggs no problem. I don’t even use hatching substrate like vermiculite or anything anymore so it saves money. Check it out some time I did a video on it and probably do another more in depth one. I’ve been breeding reptiles for over 30 years now and I wouldn’t use any other incubator but my own. Hope you have a great day
@paradoxb32 жыл бұрын
Chris, it sounds to me like you need to get some more vermiculite ASAP! Looking at your local area, the Home Depot's in Golden and Colorado Springs both show "limited stock" available. (Evergreen is out.) I recently found some in a nearby town where I live and their gardening department had it palletized and stored in overhead and had to get it down with a forklift for me because it wasn't in season. Just because you can't find it on the shelf doesn't mean they don't have it!
@camoconstrictors63742 жыл бұрын
Congratulations on all the eggs. for information if your eggs aren't going directly on the substrate you can load it with water and you'll never have that problem. You only have to measure it if your eggs are going directly on the substrate. Is awesome video keep it up
@MotherTruckinReptiles2 жыл бұрын
If the egg is already stanky, you should pull them out. I also candle them again at 3 weeks to check on progress. Good and bad eggs are completely obvious when you do.

Nice 👍 I have eggs in my incubator now as well and can’t wait to see them hatching. I also built my own incubator and it works like a champ I’ve hatched monitor eggs and ball python eggs full term with no problems and 100% hatch rate and holds 100% humidity and temp like a pro so I don’t even need vermiculite or any hatching substrate so it saves me money as well.

Great video thank you for sharing? Will you be doing a live-stream again soon? And could you show the set up you use to heat up frozen/thawed rats and mice? I usually use water to heat up my f/t but I have a few snakes whom won't take it if they're wet and they only eat it if they're dry. I haven't gotten a good method down though with heating it up from a heat lamp. Thank you!

I know there are a small amount of mold spores in pretty much all types of air. I wonder if eliminating all sources of air circulation 15-30 min before putting eggs in the incubator would help. Also, do you sanitize your hands prior to handling eggs? Ps- expecting first 2 clutches amd my worst fear is mold

It used to be that if you made less than 10,000$ in 365 days you didn’t have to claim it. Now Biden came in and now anything over 600$ in 365days you have to pay taxes on. If you make money they want their cut of it for there protection and last time I checked that was called extortion🤷♂️
