Dude I just wanna say that your very inspiring me to do your interesting videos. Personally I love animals and I think there should be channels that are similar to yours that help preserve the knowledge of these amazing creatures to keep a balance ecosystem and avoiding extinction. 150 species vanish and that is 10% a decade. Thanks to all people that are using the power of knowledge to avoid extinction. So keep up the inspiration Salamander dude!

I used to catch these all the time as a kid. Went camping this past summer with my 6yr old. Caught a ton and kept 4. Now it’s become a hobby lol. Just started my first aquarium aquascape. Very exciting. You have such a wealth of info. I’m totally watching every vid and subscribing!!

Quick question for you: is it possible to cap organic soil with Fluval substrate and get the water clear-ish? And if so, roughly how long do you estimate that it would take to clear out? I used the plate method and have a filter in as of last night to help clear and get excess surface debris. But I want to wait to put my newts in after the water has cleared a bit more and added my driftwood and plants. The process seems to take longer than I’d expected.

I rescue tadpoles from drying mud puddles, and this year I caught 4 salamander larva too. I'm waiting to find out what kind they are before setting up a tank for them.

Hey I haven’t been finding that much information and care sheets about “crested newts” could you maybe do a short care guide for it.
@TheSalamanderWilds2 жыл бұрын
Hi! This is definitely something I want to do at some point. I don't currently keep these though. I can, however, recommend this guide - it's very detailed care guide: www.caudata.org/cc/species/Triturus/Triturus_sp.shtml

I can simply not find any newts for sale anywhere on the internet. They're out of stock at Underground reptiles, LL Reptiles, Backwater Reptiles, Big Apple Herp, everywhere!

I need a good example for a tank for two newts that is cheap, im getting them today or tommorow
@TheSalamanderWilds2 жыл бұрын
Hi! It's a bit difficult to recommend something "cheap". There's definitely more budget friendly setups, but the health of your newts should always come first, so that may mean a bit of extra investment in making sure the setup and care is done right. Of course this all comes down to the points I broke down in this video - is your newt terrestrial or aquatic and what is the stage of life?

@@TheSalamanderWilds Ive tryed looking for newts in some petshops but they dont have any, can you recommend any pet shops please?
@TheSalamanderWilds2 жыл бұрын
@@Pickle_Cheese Sorry, wish I could be of more help here but I can't really recommend a pet shop. It really depends on your local areas and pet shops in my area don't sell them either. I can recommend trying caudata.org- there's tons of breeders on this website.

Hey dude if you have time can you do a care guide on tiger salamanders?
@TheSalamanderWilds2 жыл бұрын
Hey! It's definitely something I would love to do at some point, but unfortunately I live in an area where I can't keep tiger salamanders. That being said, the salamander hobby is more than likely about to become more difficult due to the COMPETES Act. It's going to make not just the salamander hobby difficult, but others too. Check this out if you want to read more about it, it's really unfortunate: usark.org/2022lacey1/

i keep catching what appear to be either newts or salamanders but i can never tell as its dark and i am no expert , but i do wanna start keeping some in my room as pets...i find em in a massive ditch close to my home....any advice? the ones i have found all look alike and have a red crest like under their tail with black/green/brown speckled body
@TheSalamanderWilds11 ай бұрын
Hey there! It's hard to determine which species you've been finding. Where do you live, if you don't mind me asking? It would be easier to narrow down the species based on location.
@markdawson429211 ай бұрын
@@TheSalamanderWilds Isle of Sheppey, Kent ,England , UK...i seen a list of newts native to the UK and nothing on the list is anywhere close to what i found...i know it was not a salamander because a) they arn't spose to be around (which i find as bullshit cos i found many as a kid) and b)i know the difference usually plus they tend to be a lot bigger and more colourful
@TheSalamanderWilds11 ай бұрын
@markdawson4292 Interesting, makes difficult to narrow if you've tried looking. Only thing I can think of is maybe smooth newts, palmate newts, or crested newts?
@markdawson429211 ай бұрын
@@TheSalamanderWilds those u just listed are among what i have just caught for my new tank setup...but theres a few others which just do not appear on any lists i been seeing...could be hybrids of some sort...the most stand out one i found has like a flame effect crest on its lower half of its backside and tail...and they are a lot bigger than the newts i can identify by around 35%
