The one thing I’ve been obsessed with is the way they just lay down in the rocks it’s so adorable I have butterflyfish rabbitfish and dwarf angels, so they all have these little mannerisms

I have two that are about 6". There is a little chasing in my 125 long (6') but nothing severe. I don't know that they don't stop swimming...lots of the time they just chill. I get unflavored nori /seaweed from the supermarket which is a lot cheaper than pet stores.

They also have the history of going rogue and eating your corals. I had to return mine today and traded for a tomini. Loved that fish. Just love the reef more.

I have never had this happen and I hope I never do. Tomini is a good choice. So many fishes, so little time.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. One thing I've noticed with mine, she is 9 years old by the way, is they are great barometers for water quality and tank health. These fish are prone to ICK. Depending on who you believe, this parasite is always present but if your system is healthy, they are in numbers too small to pose a threat. Again depending on who you believe. I do know in my system, If something is off, this fish will show me first. Usually after an unexplained death or addition of new fish and occasionally a water change, she will look "less healthy" and sometimes get a white spot or two. If dealt with immediately, it's always easy to correct but my tang let's me know when things are not right. She's better than any test kit I've ever had

I can agree with that as well. They let you know for sure when something is not right. And congrats on 9 years!! That's great work!!

It's actually a good movie. Just horrible how many clownfish and blue tangs died at the hands of kids.

I got back into keeping a reef tank last year because a work associate wanted to get out of the hobby. I picked up the whole setup including the living cast of Nemo for dirt cheap. The problem was the hippo tang was almost 5 inches long. Not good in a 75 gallon tank. After a few months I decided to trade it in. My LFS gave me about $90 in credit and I picked up a powder brown tang and a rose bubble tip anemone (which split a month later😊) I liked the hippo tang but I could tell it needed a bigger tank.

Congrats on the awesome score. And I'd like to say thanks for actually looking at the fish and saying it's not going to work. On top of that thanks for watching. Feel free to subscribe.

The only way to humanely keep these is to copper treat them for a month in quarantine. If youve already had ich or velvet in yoir display you really need to go fallow for 6 weeks with the temp at 83 degrees while you quarantine the fish in copper for 6 weeks. Otherwist the first bit of stress they will have ich and soon the rest of your fish will too, ending in many dead fish

I kept them in 70 gallon for years with no problem. The only problem is they are not so hardy as other fish and need more and variety food to stay healthy

Some fish do well in captivity some just don't. A fish is way more work than you would think.

Sounds sad surely it be better keep loads of same tangs if possible as your kinda re creating their natural habitat with loads of same fish it’s like adding multiple amounts of schooling fish that be cool but it’s normal why people can’t because it does cost lot to do that.and other reasons . Nice video would you make video if you haven’t done it already on scopus tang my spelling bad so mind my spelling thanks as I love this fish too but I hate it tho because everyone likes other tangs and it feels like everyone leaves scopus tang on it’s owns it’s honestly don’t care what others say one of top tangs what are not appreciated enough what do yall think of my opinion do think it’s true what’s others opinions on scopus tang

You really hit the nail on the head. With people always intrigued with keeping the ocean at home there will always be fish being caught. Most should just stay in the ocean. However the size that regal tangs reach they would need a massive tank to keep shoals of them to replicate their natural habitat. And yeah the cost would be trough the roof. But I have found if you keep most same types of fish in odd numbers it keeps aggression down. Not a sure fire safe way to go, but even numbers for some reason causes the others to beat up on one of the others.

@@RaptureSniping I would never take anything right out of the shipment box unless you have your own quarantine set up, but they do have the largest selection of saltwater fish around here. Wet pets that is.
