I’ve had mine for over a year now and it started thriving when I started watering from the bottom. I left it in it’s nursery pot and about every 10ish days I stick it in a cup of 1/4-1/2 water and let it absorb from the bottom. It’s also below an eastern facing window and seems to love the morning light
@boobearlou41364 жыл бұрын
Helloo. How many days do you wait to water it again? You dont water the soil from the top at all? sorry english is not my mother tongue
@Rhys-Morgan4 жыл бұрын
@@boobearlou4136 In my case, I water mine about every 10 days or when the leaves feel a little soft...whichever comes first. If they droop then I know I missed the 10 day limit. It’s best to water this plant from the bottom but not heavily watered or the plant will start to rot and die because the soil is too wet/has too much moisture. This plant needs to dry out within a few days before the next watering. Watering from the top may cause the stems to rot as the roots are finer than thread. If you want to water yours from the top, avoid the stem area & lightly water close to the soil edge (between soil and pot). I give mine enough water from the bottom (only half the plant gets the water while the top half remains dry). In addition to fish fertilizer, it gets black coffee, black tea & some diluted milk (calcium) as a treat every 2 weeks or so. I hope this helps 🤗

All plants benefit from east facing first, south facing second, and west facing third about 5 ft away from the window.

Thanks for this, Nick. My issue was constant deformed leaves and cupping leaves. I found out the cupping is normal until the leaf matures, but mine was a hot mess. I read that the deformities are caused by a lack of nutrients, but then they don't tell you what to give it that would help! I gave up when it ended up with one leaf left. I see pictures online of other people's plants that are large and beautiful and I'm like, how?!
@Christodophilus4 жыл бұрын
Try dried and crushed (preferably powdered) egg shells, and sprinkle it on the surface. It releases calcium, which I've read can cause leaf deformations.
@Eeveelution084 жыл бұрын

@Christodophilus4 жыл бұрын
You pretty much described the slow demise of my peperomia, as winter light started to recede from it's usual place near the window. Even though I doubly reduced recommended times between watering, during winter, the reduced light just meant it sat and sulked in any moisture given. So thanks for explaining the finicky nature of this plant. Mine has died, but I may try again in spring (southern hemisphere).

Mine did really well for a long time but suffered a bit during winter this year and seems like the soil was depleted of nutrients and a bit water resistant. It has 3 plants in the one pot and just seemed to outgrow it over the last couple months. I ended up repotting it today, went up one pot size, kept the entire soil/root ball together and just backfilled. Hoping it cheers up a bit after getting some fresh nutrients :)

I have one and he's a happy camper! Growing tons of new leaves, they come out all deformed but eventually unfurl and all is great! it's about 6 feet from a south facing window, used to be on an east-facing windowsill. The leaves are medium sized, and strangely my sister's have massive leaves and it lives in front of a north-facing window. I don't consider it succulent, I will let about an inch of soil dry out and then drench it. I have bad experience with those types of apparently 'succulent' stems that are in fact not succulent at all (read: swedish ivy).
