I'm looking forward to more outdoor stuff. I started spending more time in nature again and I am in my local woods and the fields around my village. More outdoor stuff will be very inspiring. I stopped being focused on negative things. I start living the solution for my family and friends. There is still much positive stuff out there that is worth our attention too.

in case I am not the only one who did not know: What is a kuksa ? A kuksa is a hand-carved cup made from birch burrs and respecting the ancestral traditions of the Sami people. What is the name of the kuksa? Throughout the Sami people and their 10 dialects, kuksa are called : Also called "Guksi" by the Anglo-Saxons or "Kåsa" in Swedish, this cup represents the unique know-how of the Sami.

A Beautiful Kuksa Bjorn! I am a woodworker for many years and you do a fine job! Beautiful tools too! In my experiences when you use wooden vessels after a few times everything seals up nicely. And the more you use it the more beautiful it becomes. As the religious group the Shakers once said: That which in itself has the highest use, possesses the greatest beauty. And so your Kuksa Bjorn, we will watch it become more and more beautiful! Thank You Kindly and Many Blessings! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania

Looks great! I never know which channel I'm watching, though. I see a Bjorn video come up and I click it. I've decided I need one of these cups for my kit, as I'm tired of burning my lips on hot metal cups when I drink my coffee from them.

Many episodes ago, I saw your kuska and decided to try one. It turned out decently. Went on to trying wooden bowls that have sold quite well. I use a chainsaw for most of it, then a grinder and a orbital sander to finish them. I leave some extra when roughing out and screw the entire piece down to a scrap piece and screw that to a low table. The final cut is breaking the cup or bowl off of the ‘tail’.

That will be good, Bjorn. I look forward to more outdoors stuff on your main channel. I understand why you have decided this. I've grown to like your stuff a lot more over time, especially the outdoors stuff. I'm just behind you in age, my fiftieth birthday is still to come this year. I'm halfway through my second kuksa at the moment. I know how you feel about your fingers - I'm a banjo player and need to look after mine! Thanks for this video. Farvel for nå.

Hi Brorn nice kuksa! With all the best in mind, word of warning though. Not sure what oil you used, but it looks like it might be "boiled linseedoil". This is often not at all food safe and os even toxic as it often contains heavy metal salts to make it dry in stead of being boild. Just a frendly word of warning. Use supermarket flax or linseed oil (the seme thing) it will dry a litle snower but works the same.

Absolutely agree about the sound of carving wood to be therapeutic. It's like the sound of a razor shaving the face (although you've probably never heard that sound before, ha ha!). Just a very nice pleasant sound of slow progress towards crafting something you find beautiful. Thank you for sharing this. I found your channel years ago, I think from your video about viking chess (I forget the name) and while I agree with you about all the bad stuff going on in the world, it is always a nice reprieve to see content about bushcraft, mental health, and simple joys.

I remember Kuksa from a visit to Norway my hubby and I undertook on our motorbikes back in the 80s. We met up with bikers from all over Norway and Sweden at Lillehammer. In the evening we all sat around a long table and our Norwegian hosts made us "Coffee Doctor" in Kuksas that they had made themselves. They generously handed them around and kept filling them with coffee doctor...it was a great evening...very potent stuff LOL.

Fill that crack with epoxy mixed with the sanding dust from the wood. Force it in as far into the crack as you can on both sides. Sand after hardening. It will never crack there again. Words from a wooden boat builder. Me.
