What a beautiful transformation using SHOU SUGI BAN ... Never saw a chunk of cedar wood come to life like that! ... Just startlingly beautiful... Jordy, (And i asked this to you before in a different Video)... i wish you would show us how you BURN this large peice of wood!... I saw a propane tank in the Video but i am clueless as to your "Wood Burning equipment", "Burner Nozzles" etc. etc. wjich you used (with a Propane tank?)... ALSO the process you went through to get the wood to burn so evenly... I wish you would shown us that step... Perhaps when you find time on your next project? (Or a specific video on "Burning Large peices")... We would all appreciate it... Thanks again for your uploads and sharing your skills with us.

Jordy the BEST thing you have done up to now!!! You did the right thing with the wood and the man in the moon, but the Owl, just stunning, the eyes and the grain suit the shape and size of the owl you are the master at shou sugi ban, and you look like a coal man or a chimney sweep its a mucky job and you are doing it, and we all love it. You damn well need a day off in fact take two off and we will only charge you for one!!! Ha Ha Ha. See you after your rest you earned it.

Jordy, Did you consider trying a Sand-O-Flex flap sander to lighten up the high spots on the ones that ended up darker than you preferred? We use the Sand-O-Flex often after applying a dry brush technique and it really does a great job lightening up the high spots and bringing back the natural wood. It might be worth a try on the pieces that went darker than you wanted... might completely transform them. Let us know if you try it!

That came out real good, specially the owl. I know you've sanded after stain, but have you tried those plastic wheels you use to remove the burnt layer after you stain? Might lighten up the stain a little. Also if someone has the 4 inch grinder that doesn't have speed control, you could hook it to one of the speed control foot pedals. Hi Jordy.

what would happen if you use a fine nylox brush on it after you stain it to lighten it up a bit in places ?? might help bring out even more contrast maybe?? it looks great by the way, i love shou sugi ban :-)
