That turquoise glaze made that fish piece. I love how whimsical that turned out. You could even carve a cute saying in the empty space or use mixed media techniques to add more underwater things. It’s great as it is too! So many decisions! I love it! Great video and you are a doll!

Great job, Sarah! This video really made me smile. You've really been growing and expanding with your craft / art work, and I love how you are testing your comfort zone. Seeing you wield the sander was awesome, but I totally went into "dad mode" watching you use the jig saw for the first time! hahahaha I felt SO PROUD OF YOU!! - again - GREAT JOB!! Here's a little tip... to make the sanding go a little smoother, try working up through the grits to the finer ones to get a great finish. ... for example, start at 100 grit, next go to 120, then 180, then to 220. You will save time and energy and the finished product will be SO very worth it! You could even try going higher through the grits to see just how shiny you can make it. With my wood turnings, I generally go to about 600 grit, and the wood grain just pops out at you. Some times, I don't even bother to finish with waxes etc., because the sanding was just enough. (mostly, that applies to hard woods like maple or oak, though) Really nice job on the wood burning as well. I've been enjoying watching you and your creativity evolve and mature through the years. Please, never stop. Cheers, and best wishes! Thank you for sharing your videos!

Great job! I do lots of torching projects and the first thing I discovered is KZbin is a Heavens sent! There are many people out there that are extremely talented at this. I also realized that it depends on whether it’s going to be indoor or outdoor project. I enjoy adding very natural color stains to my torching projects and always always always adding a good poly. This is a must! Makes the grains and colors pop so much more! I Prefer oil based spar urethane. Good luck on your future projects!

That was awesome! I just did my first burn with a tiger torch (pallet shelf) b4 I watched your vid. I wasn’t sure about sanding, I used a scotch bright on a spot, don’t really like it, so I’m doing it like you said, you can leave it. Also you asked about staining, my mother had this old round table, she used Cooking Oil on paper towel once a month, looked great. Thanks for the tips, much appreciated.

I realize I'm 2 years late to this video but if you haven't explored it yet, you can make your own fantastically beautiful stains with vinegar and metal (steel wool, nails, etc.). I use my own in my projects and adore the outcomes. These projects are so much fun to watch! Way to explore!

Cool projects, you could also try a spray lacquer to seal the wood burned finish. I would imagine the spray would be fine to use over the stain sooner as it wouldn't be disrupting the surface of the wood (?)

I love your video... just want to share, as an artist who has done this... slow sweeping strokes with the flame gets an even burn over the bobbing motion you were doing. Like spray painting... it will eliminate the "char, brush, sand" steps... in my experience and opinion. Rock on with the art... every taste is different. .. but always valuable .
@joejacomo51583 жыл бұрын
Get a weed killing torch or the ones with the long 3 foot pole on it and not only will you get wayyyy more flame to cover more wood faster but also you won't hurt your back bending over all the time.?.home depot sells one for 20 something bucks by Magtorch called the outdoor torch, not sponsored I just remember using the same torch as you and remember how much my interest grew when upgraded the torch so just MY opinion, good luck! Also I have been burning and using stains and poly with inconsistent results but I tried the wood dye today for the first time mixing it with my finish and wow...went from burnt wood that kind of had color faded on it to a popping super bright barn red sugi glossy poly amazing piece of wood. Sorry so long but u hope this helps ::) thanks for your awesome video this was my first time but not gonna be my last

I'm doing a few 16' pieces of 2x4" KD Fir.. want to get a torch head that made a wider flame as using a pencil torch on that size wood is gonna take lots of time. I'm actually considering just making a small wood fire outside and holding the wood over it. You want to get Nyalox drill brushes or a purpose made wire brush sander

We use a clear wax for wood On our table tops ect. It brings depth out of the grain. I don't like varnish very much. We use it on antique wood furniture. You can get coloured wax as well apply the wax leave it a few minutes then buff it up with a cloth.
