Just got one and a gift. Tried it out while tubing the Clarion River, and managed to catch a small bass and a creek chub. Definitely a fun way to catch a fish.

Seems to me a novice could benefit from practicing a few 'dry casts' in a nice open area where nothing will snag. I have one - a Blackie Thomas tin can version. I can't wait to get out there and start using it!
