Armadillos are strong enough to break out of those traps. Releasing them in another area only creates problems for others. There’s no bait for an armadillo.

New to these creatures. Have at least one in our backyard. I think I'll be getting one of these traps, but I don't have any hesitation about popping them off in the cage. Taking them to the far side of the subdivision just gives another property owner the problem.

Thanks so much for this informative video. We are having a problem with armadillos after a ranch field not far from us was set on fire by some kids. Since then our neighborhood has been tusseling with these dillos trying to find ways to get rid of them. I have the trap - now all I need to do is get the worms. Thanks again.

I put up a electric fence i saw on u tube made jiust for armadillo's. Buy 4ft aluminum rods at tractor supply, a bag of rod insulators, zip ties 8", u will need a zareba control box for how far u are running the fence we bought a 15 mile 20v using polywire. Cut the posts into 16" , half in the ground and half out we put a rod every 5 ft. Put on a insulator, run the wire of your chosing, connect to the control box, plug it into a standard outlet. We also have a photocell on the outside of the building where the control box is so ut automatically comes on when sun goes down & goes off whe sun comes up. I have gone 4 yrs without 1 hole. They touch it and go the other way all it does is give them a jolt of electricity but doesn't kill them.

Moving in your own neighborhood is a bad idea ……. It would be better to put them where there is some predators in the wild. I let the ones I caught in a rural area with alligators around
@maryadams92632 жыл бұрын
They have no natural predators. Moving them just gives your problem to someone else. You’re not solving anything unless you exterminate them.

Buy or make a wooden trap. They work much better. Search for The Armadillo Trap. They are attaracted to the scent of other armadillos. Get a scented one and it will start catching them quickly.

@merrillhess5626 Жыл бұрын
Those wire traps are not very effective. Baiting them attracts other animals. They are attracted to the scent of other armadillos. Get a wooden trap that already has an armadillo scent in it. Just leave the trapped armadillo in the trap for around 12 hours to allow it to scent the trap. The more you trap, the better it will work.
@merrillhess5626 Жыл бұрын
@@jlt7793 See my reply below. The wire traps are not very effective. The wooden traps are fantastic. No need to bait them.
@jackson12802 Жыл бұрын

@merrillhess5626 Жыл бұрын
Use a wooden trap. They work much better and need no bait. Once you trap an armadillo it, leave it in the trap for around 12 hours. It will put its scent into the trap and that scent will attract other armadillos. The more you catch the better it works. You need to take them farther away to relocate them. Otherwise they will eventually return to your yard. Take them at least 10 miles away, preferably in a wooded or swampy area. BTW - If you are quick enough, you probably could have walked up to the one you chased and picked it up. Do it quickly because they will buck and jump out of your hands. One night I caught a mother with three babies following. I walked right up and picked up two of the babies. The other two were gone by the time I was able to contain the two I caught. i put them in a bathtub until I relocated them the next day.

all the armos around my house only come out at night and at different times so it's super frustrating trying to find out where their coming from. I have gotten up and down all night looking outside trying to catch em in act but apparently missed em because the next morning I go outside and find what looks like pig rootings from where the armo just mocked and laughed at me and dug my yard up some more. Steam boiling out my ears! Oh and while surveying my yard at 2:am last night I find a giant opossum in the back yard, so I'm thinking the critters are ganging up on me now 😮 They both got to go, one way or another
