New subscriber based solely on the fact that you answer most all comments you get. New to kayak bass fishing and doing tournaments and your info has been helpful. Maybe I can pick your brain on some tournament tactics. How do you plan your tournaments? What do you look for? As a kayak angler I can't move all over the lake like a boat so my planning is lacking and needs help
@AndrewUpshawFishing4 жыл бұрын
I try to. Sometimes I get behind, but I try! I plan for tournaments based on location and time of year, but honestly it’s so much more complex. I look at google earth for weeks before the event, map study, do an insane amount of research on the body of water. Basically what I do is create familiarity on the body of water before I get there.

Andrew, I have a question about your win at Cherokee. The smallies are starting a little early this year and I'm having a hard time getting them to bite right now. Water temp is 62 - 63 and I'm targeting those big rocks like you were fishing around main lake islands and banks. Were you sight fishing or just kept hitting those spots in between rocks knowing the chances were good a bass would be there? I did finally catch some largemouths that are not spawning but in the pre-spawn stage so they're eating. Thanks for your help, hope you and yours are well.
@AndrewUpshawFishing4 жыл бұрын
I was doing a little bit of both. The deal is, if you get just one bite between the rocks, you need to make it. More than likely 15-20yds on one side of that bite or the other you can get a substantial amount of bites if you slow down. When I was there I had just really small stretches where they were spawning. Sounds like they haven’t quite moved up yet there, but it literally could be any day! Good luck!

If you have a Soft Plastic worm that naturally wants to float, and you add a weight which naturally wants to sink, you have two diametrically opposed forces that can be Tweaked, you can laterally set the depth at which your lure will be "Neutrally Buoyant".

Hello Andrew, I want to start by saying that I have really enjoyed your videos. I’ve been subscribed for a while and I typically send links of your videos to friends. You have a gift the way you explain things, I say this from experience as I am a retired professor. You did something recently that really put me off. So much so that I am not sure if I want to remain subscribed. It was on this particular video. You were talking about the Corona virus, you said: “Please listen to the leaders of this country, we elected them for a reason and put them in that position where they have to make the decision, that hard decisions that we a lot of times can’t make…” Well I assure you that “we” did not elect them, you may have but I certainly did not so to hear you say just do as you’re told because of elected officials that I did/do not agree with or vote for, I find that personally offensive. I would also like to add (whether I voted for them or not), in my 60 something years, have never had to rely on a politician to make a hard decision for me that I could not make on my own. I don’t want to launch off on politics but I do want to give you some advice to consider, take it or leave it. If you want to be on a public platform and gain subscribers to your KZbin channel and gain advertisers, then you need to not say a word about certain topics that have nothing to do with the topics on your channel and certainly not subjects that other people feel strongly about. Some blaring examples would be politics, religion, sports etc. You have nothing to gain from it and only subscribers to lose. Right or wrong isn’t the issue here, people are people, they’re not going to mold to you, it’s you that must mold to them if you want to gain viewers and prosper. I feel like there was nothing about what you said that had ill intent and that probably in your eyes it was harmless but you are young and hopefully you’re as good of a learner as you are a teacher. I was going to message you back in the spring when this video came out but I decided to wait a while first so that I didn’t go on a political rant. I have refrained from watching your channel ever since then. I would have preferred to send this to you privately but was only able to find other social media for you (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) as opposed to an email address, I don’t do social media. Michael
@AndrewUpshawFishing3 жыл бұрын
Michael, First off, thank you for subscribing to my channel and watching some of my videos. I always appreciate hearing that and seeing the interaction. You said that I recently did something that upset you, per my Wacky Rig Tip Video, about my stance (at the time) on corona virus. I want to clarify, that particular video was posted March of 2020, right at the beginning of the COVID Pandemic. There were a ton of "Unknowns" that no one could have predicted and we were dealing with a virus that literally shut the country down. So my stance about people being smart, listening to our President at the time, and locking down while the government had time to figure out how to combat the virus was smart. You don't have to agree with me, and thats ok too. When it comes to content produced on my channel and topics discussed on it, I take full responsibility. I know there are hard topics to discuss that may or may not turn viewers away like religion, politics, sports, etc. But see, that's the thing. I am passionate about all 3. I wouldn't be who I am without those 3 (story for a different time). I am religious, political, love sports, and play video games. That right there will turn away a ton of people. Do I want my KZbin channel to boom and have millions of subscribers? Of course I do. But I will never jeopardize who I am and be filtered for a few extra views and subscribers. I really wish you nothing but the best. I'm sorry I offended you, but I am not sorry for what I said because I believed it was true at the time. I hope you stay subscribed, but understand that you may go. With that, have a great day and I hope your 2022 is the best one yet! Andrew

I enjoy your vids. While you have a little time on your hands, I think you would be the perfect person to do a instructional video on how to return to, locate and fish a waypoint. There are tons of electronics videos out there, but most are brand specific. A waypoint is a waypoint. It sounds simple but I'll guarantee you most of us who buy all these great electronics don't understand how to apply them the most simple fishing tactics. Just a thought keep it simple, keep it real. P.S. I like your green screen back round. It has possibilities.
