The first thing I noticed about this reel is its weight kzbin.infoUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I wouldn't say it was uncomfortable but it was a little heavier than other similarly sized reels. However, that didn't deter my enjoyment of how smooth this reel is. I spooled it with 20lb. Tuf-Line XP and it's perfect for what I use it for. I have it paired with an 8'6" Medium/Fast Okuma SST Salmon/Steelhead rod. The combination is perfect for casting and even drifting. I used the reel all day and didn't experience any arm or hand fatigue except when fighting a few fish! The bail is solid and feels strong when engaging by reeling and manually closing the bail by hand. The large rubber handle grip is very comfortable. It's got a powerful drag, silky smooth reeling, and feels very comfortable in the hands. I recommend it!

The weightless wacky rig ( yamasenko in green pumpkin w purple flake )has definitely been my confidence lure this summer. I caught my first one in June and have been catching them consistently every time I go fishing. Especially when they won’t bite anything and they are acting slow and finicky. .PERFECT for a new fisherman like me

Great video Debo. I use the wacky setup with my dropshot rig. A number 2 hook, 1/8 oz weight, and a watermelon with red flake stick bait = lmb killer here in Oregon. Instead of the bait resting on the bottom, the bait sits up so I can pop the rod one, two, or three times to make the bait dance. Sometimes that short, quick, one pop gets bit. Nice spinning combo too. Thanks for all you do for us man. 😁👍

Debo my man you have done it again. Great information in the video. I used your 2 O-ring method on my wacky rig and 🎆 BAM caught 1 in the first 27 minutes then 2 more and they were getting bigger to about 2 1/2 lbs. Then I got slammed and faught a monster just for a moment cuz it snapped my line. I tied right back up and caught my 4th in about 2 hrs and the last 1 was 17.50" and 3.54 lbs. I appreciate your work my man. I'll post pics on my IG to see.

Great informational vid. Always enjoy yours! Learn something every time. Eagle Claw 1 or 2 ought weedless hooks (Wally World cheapies) are all I use. If I want weighted I’ll use a teeny tiny pinch sinker just above the knot. Can’t wait til you post the vid where you catch 30 some feesh on the old wacky rig😎✌️.
@GainingDespair
@GainingDespair 3 жыл бұрын
I've always had really good luck wacky rigging a finesse work (like trickworm) I don't throw the hook center mass tho. I'll lightly pinch it and just try to bounce it up and down in my fingers to find the center weight wise. I love for equal movement on both ends and I hook it once I find that spot. I than cast it out weightless, and rod tip down and have a constant but very slow reel pulling it in. As I do this I very lightly twitch the rod tip and I swear, once you get the hang of it the worm has the "shimmy" action 100% of the time like it does when it first starts to sink. This has been the most successful method for me, really it works well with about any style of trickworm (I prefer the cheap havocs) and I've not wanted to spend $8 on a bag of senkos in years. Next time you are out give it a shot, try it in some cleaner water tho so you can watch it to see the action so you get a feel of what that specific worm needs in terms of reeling and rod twitching.

Thanks for posting this Debo! Good info regarding how to fish it. I fish one particular body of water where the senko is money, but for me it’s received by bass like a rubber check. Btw, you asked how we rig our senkos. I use the the two ring crossover like you do or the Frenzy wacky saddle which works well for hook placement and ease of use. It seems like all water around me has all kinds of grass, algae, etc. so I always use something weedless like an EWG, or weedless lead head hook.
@josephnywayfarer1345

Great advice here Debo. I like a GYBC Senko, BPS Stik-O, Yum Dinger or a Berkley General stick worm. I use an Owner 1 or 1/0 Camo wacky rig hook or a Eagle Claw 1 or 1/0 weedless hook around a lot of grass. As far as colors go, when the bite is on it doesn’t matter it could be neon rainbow and it would work. In tough conditions nothing beats green pumpkin.

You get sub, finally someone who can explain things in an understandable and tailored to noob status way. I catch em but I know I am terrible at fishing still compared to where I need to be, getting past all of the learning curve stuff can be brutal so thanks for explaining it simply and clearly. I noticed recently the same thing, I was messing with the baits way too much, had to slow it down (part of this is not rigging correctly so my baits would be hard to control in the right ways and not get caught up on stuff). I test action often times against any fish that I can spot to get a feel for how much action is too much, and you realllyyyyy gotta be subtle, at least when they have good visibility.

I spent this summer experimenting with wacky rig hooks and baits. I landed on the VMC weedless neko as well, size 2. Close second was the Gamakatsu g-finesse weedless wacky, size 1/0. I also found that rigging trick worms through the thin part without o-rings were surprisingly durable with those VMC hooks. The weed guard "assembly" doesn't allow the worm to travel up the line and get cut in half when the fish jumps. They just stay on that light wire hook. Re-rig when slightly torn. Multiple fish per bait usually when using trick worms. When they do tear and you can retrieve it, bonus ned rig bait!

Good stuff man! Started wacky rigging this year and it was doing well until the lake got choked up with weeds, still need to try fishing it in the very few sparse cover spots I can find, heh.I use the same weedless neko ones, because you recommended them to me, and they work alright! I can pull it through some semi-thick stuff and it doesn't get hung up a lot. I use the Big Bite Baits Trick Stick, because you can buy them in a 25 pack for like 6 bucks, and they work great.
