It's HOT outside! That's good news for bass fishing! Hot temperatures put bass in predictable locations and we're going to show you how to target them! With just a few simple baits you can catch fish all through the heat of Summer, no matter how hot it gets!
Whether you prefer fishing shallow or offshore, Summer heat will help you catch more fish. Shallow fish move into shadows (we'll explain this in the video) and deep fish make room to let the giants feed. We target them during periods of high sun using large profile baits in likely locations. Summer fishing is easy once you apply this approach!
Below you'll find links to the exact baits and equipment we recommend in the video. We've even included our favorite colors for each bait, as well as some of the rod and reel combos we use to fish these baits effectively. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Summer time heat…..next to a Jerk bait, my other piece of Kryptonite!! There are docks on the little 10 acre lake I fish, but I can only get to 1 dock at the edge of the lake damn. The rest of the docks are at the foot of a steep hill that houses sit on and boats are not allowed on the lake. The home owners are not to welcoming to outsiders fishing from their docks. I don’t stress too much about it because I can’t stand the humidity we get here in Louisville and I normally don’t fish the middle of the day. Heat is ok….the humidity absolutely sucks! I will keep your tips I mind though for when I can convince my brother to take his boat out.

Great info as always; it brought up a different issue I've had.... deep hook removal. ...there is one scene at 2:40 where you're reaching into the bass's mouth with almost your whole fist and disengaging the jig hook. Would you please consider doing a vid on getting deep hooks out? I always see guys stickin' their hands into the bass's throat but you never see how they're actually getting the hook free. Is there some special technique like stickin' your index finger in the bend of the hook and pushing down til the barb comes loose? That's what one guy told me he does. I tried it and thought I was killin' the bass. So if you could explain and possibly demo what the heck you're doing in that mouth to get a hook loose would be appreciated!! I've asked many guys and gotten very few answers. I do know how to try going from under the gills but that doesn't always work either. TV bass shows never show the guy working a hook out. Any consideration for a vid on this would be helpful.

One thing I have noticed over the years of informed fishing ( as opposed to favorite lure/ favorite spot/ hope I get lucky fishing) is bass get real predictable in the heat of the day. I could pick fish out of shady areas that people walk by without a second glance ( I’m a shore bound basser) and could even almost time when the bass would move from shade that was disappearing to new spots that were going to get shady.

For ultralight finesse fishing, leaders are all about visibility since you don't finesse fish typically around heavy cover or in very dirty water. Hi-Viz braid is popular so the angler can see their line (but so can the fish in clear water), so a near invisible fluorocarbon leader is recommended.
