I love those! I just started fishing from a kayak too. I have caught them from a boat but they way they pull, i was afraid they would flip my kayak. How the heck do you keep so vertical when they are off to the side like that? I can see the benefit of the pedal drive there over the paddle too.

Most any jigging heavier rod will get them up. Your gonna need a reel with decent drag capabilities. The low profile Quantums I use aren't strong enough with thumbing it to help
