These tips are awesome and very well demonstrated, another one i use is a small spot of super glue on the rear end of the maggots and simply stick them to the foam or a poppup, they stay alive longer and no maggot juice on your fingers from stabbing them with a needle, they also seem to be able to wriggle more without the thread restricting their movement slightly.

I have recently found time to go fishing again after a few years away and I never used to go in January for carp but thought I'd give it a crack today, I watched this video the night before because I knew that maggots would be a good option but wanted to know a good way to present them, the maggot ball on cotton worked with and without corn and I ended up with two double figure commons, I will definitely be catching more winter carp now so thank you

Hi lookin for a advice. Ive just joined a local lake thats been there over 30 years and has never been heavily fished the owners say its just thrived on natural foods the carp go upto 30lb . So My question is would you think this is the perfect lake to give maggots ago

Great video. Thanks very much. Can anyone help me? Every time I strip back a section of the coating in order to place the shot (for the pop up maggot rig) the coating on the rest of the link just twists and completely ruins the whole hook link. Any ideas?

@@fishingtutorials kingcarp 20lb coated braid. It just twists the coating and makes the rest of it unusable. Odd.

Ah that’s strange! We use Dark Matter braid from Korda with no problems at all :)
@mattandsharks4 жыл бұрын
@@fishingtutorials I've worked out the issue. Cheap coated braid was the problem! The coating was just awful. Got myself a better quality one and the striping worked first time, no twisting. Stuck a big ball of maggots on the hair and bagged a 6lb chub on the first cast! Thanks guys.

What is tge best place to fish maggots in the shallows, deeper water, snags, reeds or are they an anywhere bait
@fishingtutorials4 жыл бұрын
The best place to fish with maggots is where ever the fish are. In the winter this will usually be in either deep water or near snags and reeds. In the summer for sure shallower parts of the water will be ideal!
@robertsalmon98444 жыл бұрын

Brilliant tutorial guys !! Could anyone tell me what you used in the video to blend the bread, please :) Thanks 👍👌
@thediligentdungbeetle81164 жыл бұрын
I would use a standard food processor or a stick blender your choice but I feel like the food processor gives you a finer texture also I would leave some bread out in the bag in a sunny place like a greenhouse or winter as this makes the bread stale and easier to turn into like a crumb
@mattwright2444 жыл бұрын
Awesome video! I've learned a lot from you guys (even though I have a lot more years on both you 😉) and your videos are always brilliant. What’s your opinion on using worms for carp? I’ve used them a few times and caught a few fish on them. I threaded them onto some 4lb mono and then tied that to the hair caught me a trench and a carp. Not sure what would be better maggots or worms tho. Worms are free though from the garden compost heap or under the plant pots

@fishingtutorials5 жыл бұрын
Yes you can, just make sure the maggots and the rig are completely dry. Also compact it as tight as you can otherwise too many air bubbles will be trapped and the bay can float. Good luck mate!
