I usually look for a part of the creek that connected closer to a bigger body of water.

In this case it is the creek connected to a small spillway of a lake, so when the water gets to high it rolls over in this creek, and basically the fish become trapped in the creek!

I caught the Texas Record channel cat, a tad over 37lbs, but unknown to me, I thought the record was close to the blue cat (120+lbs).. So I thought nothing of it. I did take photos and weights and proceeded to eat the sucker, huge slabs of meat. Then decided to look up the record and almost cried knowing that I had beat the old one.

You can get in under this bridge right on the border of denison/bells tx (north texas) can ride down the creek and go one way to the red river or you can go up stream across texas. Big gar and big cat fish. Even striper closer to the river you get.
