A tip for taking turtles off your hooks for the future so you don't make it suffer having a hook in its face the rest of its life, you put the turtle on its back and have some longer pliers on hand, putting the turtle on its back makes it MUCH less likely to snap, I have personally never had one snap when doing it like this and then you remove the hook. Also having a very thick leather glove on hand like an old welding glove helps out as most turtles you hook wont be able to bite through them with the exception of maybe a 30+ pound snapping turtle. And thanks for the catfishing tips, i didn't know the high wind one :D

I usually go down to the river every weekend by myself trying to catch catfish. I live in PA and now the weather is getting cooler for fall. Is there anything wrong with just really simply fishing from the bank to the bottom with a plain sinker and 2/0 circle hook and chicken/ beef liver?
@Maddogs2710 жыл бұрын
There is nothing wrong with fishing from the bank. I live in MD and I only do bank fishing, I have never fished from a boat before, and I still land big fish. Just today, I caught a 5lbs, 2ft blue catfish from the bank using chicken liver.

I've found that a high low rig casts much better than a sliding sinker rig. With a sliding rig the bait kinda swings around the weight and does not cast as far and gets tangled. Then again sliding rigs might be more effective.

Getting a 10 lb cat on 6 lb test line is the most awesome feeling ever once you get one in. Definitely have to play out the fish with the light line and light rod, but is the most satisfying thing ever. I love fishing for them because they're scrappers, but I don't eat them

gamagatzu hooks work way better. when they run with your bait the curve hooks the fish without you having to actually "set" the hook
