Hello I wish you answer me. First tremendous step by step jig adapting and bingo. Nice groeper size those. How many time did you loos a jig in the reef when dropping it ? Till how deep do you use that hummingbird fishfinder and still geting perfect and trustful respond ? How many watt power is the transducer ?

Hey mate,nice video. How essential is a fish finder when slow pitch jigging please?
@Micksgonefishing3 жыл бұрын
I would say it’s pretty essential as you want to be fishing where there is fish… Sure you can read the water and have an idea of where to drop but a good sounder verifies how good or bad a spot will be.

Hi there. Can you state the spec / model of the rod and line / brand line? I didn’t quite understand with the wind noise. And, what is the name of round handle installed in the reel? And, I didn’t quite understand the logic using the sea anchor over the electric motor. Can you please articulate this logic? Thanks Cameron
@Micksgonefishing3 ай бұрын
Pretty sure it was a pe3 slow element with pe3 sunline siglon. And the sea anchor helps control your drift and keeps you over the jig in windy conditions as opposed to an electric motor holding you fixed to a gps point and letting the current pull your line away.

hey mate probably a silly question, how how does the sea anchor help you? does it slow the boat down or it designed to keep your boat at the same speed as current to help you stay on top of your jigs?
@Micksgonefishing3 жыл бұрын
Yeah mate, that’s it. It anchors you to the current so you can stay over your jig and even let’s you fish smaller jigs. I’m surprised a lot more people don’t use them. They’re especially good for situations with wind and opposing current directions.
@vsonic864 жыл бұрын
Is there any different between using different weight to get the effective bite?
@Micksgonefishing4 жыл бұрын
Yeah definitely, always fish as light as possible but keep in mind you want to stay over top of your jig. Too much angle on the line will affect the action.

Ur title says slow pitch jigging but u aren’t letting the jig flutter down and fall. Is this not just plain jigging or vertical jigging? Am I missing something ?
@Micksgonefishing11 ай бұрын
This is a slow pitch technique called half pitch, the problem we have up here is that our better fish are very predatory and like a chase so I faster technique excites them more, I’ve tried long fall and the slower techniques a long time ago and it seemed to attract a lot more scavenging species and not the more prized stuff. But yeah definitely still slow pitch just an up tempo version of the half pitch
@Sam.moncrieff3 жыл бұрын
what’s up with the eyelets on your rod is it made like that?
@Micksgonefishing3 жыл бұрын
Good question! Yeah mate, they roll to the left so it helps pull the reel into your palm when fighting a fish. It’s surprising the difference it makes, you don’t notice it until you’ve fished a spiral wrapped rod for a while then you switch back to traditional straight guides with the overhead that you really think wow, I used to fish like that.. the tricky part is if you wind left handed you need a rod spiral wrapped the opposite way, as it’ll do the opposite and unbalance the reel on the power stroke going down.. The other advantage is you can have less guides on the rod as you don’t have to worry about line clearance when loaded, this stiffens up the blank and makes it recover quicker and feeling more crisp 👌🏻 too many advantages to it and I’m surprised more of the bigger brands haven’t followed as the spiral wrapped concept has been around for over a decade..
@Sam.moncrieff3 жыл бұрын
@@Micksgonefishing yeah thankyou for that because at my local fishing shop they have those oceans legacy overheads and i was wondering why they’re like that , might have to invest in one for medium jigging , what overhead reel would you suggest ?
