When I was about 12, we went from Oklahoma to Louisiana to visit an aunt, she took us crabbing off of a bridge, using square nets about a foot across, two bent clothes hangers, each end bent attaching to each corner of net, and of course string tied to bent part of hangers and chicken. It was my 1st, and sadly my last time crabbing, it was a blast, it must have been a great day for crabbing, because just after moments of net sitting on bottom, we always had at least a crab, several times there’d be more, we had a box to dump them n and back to get more. Now I’d never eaten them or seen them cooked, I saw them go n a big pot of boiling water with potatoes, us kids got the legs. At that age, it tasted fatty to me, yuk, but then, I wasn’t raised on eating fish either till I was an adult. but I love love crab, seafood + fish. I’m 61, and for the past few years, I’ve been yearning to go crabbing and getting me some fresh mud bugs!!

It's the heavy duty crab trap you can find at academy. H2O express makes them.
