in Michigan we catch yellow perch through the ice in winter time.....you can take a 1.5 inch tube (many different colors) and rig it in reverse....tentacles on top....a heavier slim teardrop with the hook out the bottom through the tube nose....when you lift the tentacles flare out....when you drop they close and jig shoots down....when you lift again fish is there....just a little input.....great videos!!!

@@MooMooOutdoors we vertical jig alot here in Michigan for walleye and perch and smallmouth bass....object is to keep your line vertical....usually by electric trolling motor....lift and and lower at same speed as wind or river current....stay right on top of your baits with lift and fall

Another tip for anybody using tube Bate before you stuff the actual lead head in to the tube take a piece of cottonball put it in 1st and then put the lead head in that way you can put drops of anchovy oil inside the to bait and it will get on the cottonball and prolong the scent of your bait..... And have you ever want to fish it top water use a cork in the tip of the tube

Moo, how do you keep your trolling set up at the correct depth? I dont see a downrigger on your kayak. I really like seeing you in a paddle kayak, I couldn't justify a pedal drive and seeing you go back to paddling makes me think I'm not totally crazy paddling haha I've learned a ton watching you and TLA, thank you for all the info you share!

I used 2 oz ball weight. You can have it on the slide or clip it on the swivel snap. Pedal kayak is convenient but people have done it on paddle kayaks for many many years before pedal kayaks came out.

@@MooMooOutdoors You can use a 3 way swivel, tie you line on, tie a weight to the lower loop, then your leader to the remaining loop with the dodger and leader. Another way is to put a slider above the swivel and attach the weight to the slider. Remember to use a bead betweein the slider and the swivel to keep the slider off the knot. Then attach the dodger leader and terminal tackle. A third way is to use a diving plane attached to a swivel, then tie a short length of leader then tie on ur dodger and leader to ur lure. They all work. to keep the line at depth without a down rigger.

Thank you Moo. One question. Doesn't that darter head have the eyelet on the side and not on the very tip (end)? Reason I ask is I thought it would hang closer to horizontal than vertical simply due to the eye location on the darter head. If the eyelet was on the very end then it would be perfectly vertical.
