Cool method . I've seen BlueGabe use a 2 liter bottle of soda with the line tied to it . They punched a small hole in the cap to let the soda leak out to draw catfish . StaleKracker lures them inside old propane tanks with a hole cut out for entry during egg laying season. I've learned a lot from all of you guys and to me anything is better than sitting in the hot sun holding a fishing pole all day . Thanks for the video . I enjoyed it .

Love this technique; I do a variation of the same thing. Just a note...Yes, pool noodles do break down quickly. They are made of expanded polyethylene foam which degrades much quicker that other types of foam. These are not biodegradable; they will break down into micro plastics that end up in the ocean and eventually into the bodies of people and wildlife.

That dinky gar is not a problem. Down in Lake Corpus Christi there have been two aligator gar taken over three hundred pounds, one by biologists and one by archery. The first one had two catfish inside, one well over ten pounds. I have had #54 trotline cord broken several times back in the sixties. My Dad used to curse them when they would steal most of the bait off his trotline. But some times there would be several on the line at once. Then he would get really angry a get out his channel locks and break off their bills until he got his hook back. That was before Texas Parks and Wildlife was formed and the old Texas Game and Fish commission had a more reasonable solution to the gar problem. The published the story that gar liver was the best catfish bait! That lead to heavy thinning but in the warm waters there, they overpopulate, and Falcon Lake is much the same.

@@bridgefour5061 I use 2 inch PVC 2 ft. Long with caps on each end. I target fish in my lake 14 ft. To 18 ft. of water. I tie on 21 ft. of black tarred nylon twine. I put 2 hooks. 1 at 7 ft. from the bottom and another at 14 ft. from the bottom. I use barrel swivels to put hooks on with 10 inch leaders. I also use a trotline clip to add a weight to the bottom.
