at lake illawarra learnt two things about this, great fun catching them on weed and also squirt worms in winter. one extra thing not wanted how much pelicans harass you when you catch one lol. floats in estuaries a massive thing we can learn to do. especially using tide to run a bait along, very nice luderick after losing a few only need a couple fresh.

Roger, another top video. I haven't fished for luderick for 40 years when the snapper bug hit me. We used to use an Alvey centrepin reel loaded with 6lb mono and a whippy 10' 6" rod. The mono was smeared with vaseline to make it float. We used to mix the weed with sand and chuck it out as berley I didn't know you were a sports fan as Mornay is a South African fast bowler and FitzPatrick played for the Wests Tigers. Put on some waders!!! f

Instead of a rubber stopper a piece of clear plastic tube over the top of float allows you to adjust the depth easily.

roger,im amazed as to how clean the waters seem to be in australia. here in kzn natal south africa, our waters in easturies tends to be very dirty almost all of the time. i dont risk dirty water, due to bull sharks feeding the channels as the tide comes in. this limits available areas to fish.
@tiller_gorilla7220Ай бұрын
Dirty water would be mud bottom We have sand bottoms clean sand
@emileplumstead1808Ай бұрын
@@tiller_gorilla7220 In South Africa the turbid estuarine water is usually as a result of sediment washed in due to erosion in the catchment.

Hi Roger, very nice catches. May I please ask if you are able to catch luderick when you seen them swimming around below wharfs and pylons? Or do they have to be out of sight to bite? Because at my local wharf I see massive ones in excess of 45cm swimming around below me. Thanks.

Great tutorial Roger ! Have you ever fished for luderick up where the channel drops into the lake ? on the north side there is a hole that i spotted a heap of luderick in but didn't have bait or gear for them. That lagoon always reminded me of Narrabeen lagoon and i always looked forward to fishing there when i had my van down near there . You didn't mention how good they are on the plate ! Bleed , fillet and skin - magnificent !

Hi Ian, I used to fish the drop off into Narrabeen Lake in my teens. I had a great time catching Blackfish there over a number of years. I was there recently, and it is still the same. Plenty of fish!

One Dali llama as fishermen when we lose a fish in the strike/set- Do you scale up the hook or downsize?? Just seconds after pushing send, you said you were thinking of upsizing your hook . I'm in California, but it is a universal question
@RogerOsborneFishingАй бұрын
In this case I needed to scale up. It depends on the size of the mouth of the fish that you are targeting.
