Thank you Roger. I fish on the Gulf coast of Texas. I come from over 40 years of bass fishing including tournaments. I tried wade fishing and got caught in soft mud and sunk in the bay and got caught in rip tide in the surf. Both times i managed to save myself. (BTW, I’m 70 years old. Fishing by myself from a boat is stressful for an old man like me.) Watching yours and other beach fishing videos I am learning to stay safer, drier and still catch fish. Thank you for you great instructional videos. I am really enjoying this new to me style of fishing 👍

I have been fishing since I could walk, I'm by no means a great fisho so I like watching these videos. Out Of all the videos on KZbin that I have watched this was the best, you are clear, concise, and you are not trying to ram products down our throats. And you are not neglecting us old fashioned bait fishermen. Cheers, SUBSCRIBED!

Thank you Roger for such a treasure trove of information. I'm a Sydney fisho who regularly visits the South Coast since childhood. My fishing targets seem quite similar to yours but although I've spent many hours on the rocks (and still do) beach fishing has been an occasional pastime of mine until recently. I couldn't believe it when I discovered your channel - so many of the questions I've had about rigs, bait, etc have been answered by your videos. The places I see you fish are familiar and I feel like I've gained a great deal from you in a relatively short space of time. Big thanks mate. Hopefully I'll see you one day on the beach and I can say thanks in person.

This video and channel as a whole is probably the best beach fishing 101 course on KZbin! I have watched so many videos that were titled "how to catch ... on beach" but only turned out to be filming of one beach fishing session - or a hoax in Trump's words. Hats off to Roger for these informative and well-presented videos! Looking forward to the upcoming videos about other beach fishing gears!

I start with a big hook and go down in size if pickers keep stealing the bait... sure little hooks catch big fish but big fish swallow little hooks which makes catch & release more difficult. I tend to catch less fish than other people but the fish I catch are usually bigger and I'm happy with that. Not really fussy about hook type... doesn't need to be as technical as this makes it out to be and ganged hooks are an Aussie thing... we do just fine without them. Great videos not knocking them at all but a reality check now and then doesn't hurt. My goto hook size is 7/0 and if I need smaller than I start wondering if it is even worth the bother.

Hi Hank, I use 15lb line for bream and Whiting with a flurocarbon leader. Best way is to cut the fishes throat, it bleeds out and dies quickly.
