Probably already says this in the vid but peacock bass actually are helpful because they eat invasive species that are also from the Amazon

Peacock bass aren’t invasive, they were introduced to control the invasive tilapias we have here in Florida. Good video either way

Something I learned last year, concerning fish handling: careful when grasping them by the bottom jaw, if held by just the jaw and not vertically the tissue can be hyperextended or actually torn and reduce the fish's ability to feed after release. Best to support the body as well when holding horizontally or at an angle to avoid that damage, or just hold vertically. That aside: gotta get to filming catching a 10-25+ pound peacock while you're down there, I've heard they're strong enough to snap 50 pound test or more when fighting.

They are super pretty fish! The amount of trash around is unfortunate though. It would be nice to see a clean-up movement happen - maybe the local fishermen could start something!

Here's a good question when the FWC stocked peacock bass in the Florida lakes they tried the really big species the speckled peacock but they didnt do good like the butterfly peacock like the ones we all catch now. So i wonder why one species has flourished and the other didn't there both a cichlid bass species from the same region. I mean just about everything else from the Amazon that has been introduce to Florida waters has flourished so why not the speckled peacock bass. That would be something to research. Love the vids Dav fish-on my brother

Never see tilapia like that where I live....I caught a peacock bass once...wasn't expecting it in Corpus Christi...but ya never know I guess.

I'm sure they'll be there in great numbers like they are in Florida. Fishing for them has bought in a lot of tourism revenue, and I'm Texas will get on board with that.

How do they get away with puting a fence up across the water. In the north that would not fly. Thats one thing ive noticed that further north u go the more fish and game officers care about the environment and conservation. Floridas FWC and Michigan and Minnesotas DNR are like night and day.
