I know this was a while ago but I wanted to say “Thanks” for the video & tips! Love your relationship with Otis! I used to always fish with my best fur-buddy❣️ Would love to see more of Otis! If I may offer a suggestion. Please, get Otis his own life vest. He almost slipped in a couple times. It only takes one time. Sure he can swim but it you both went in & the boat veered away, you could get to the boat, get yourself in & go get Otis. Throw in some panic & age & Otis could be in trouble. Also if your both in the drink. Do you realize how hard it would be to lift Otis into the boat? Then try & get yourself in? You may wanna get &/or wear a minimal vest for yourself. If you fell in, chances are Otis would jump in to save you, his best friend! Just trying to make sure you’ll always leave together & be able to look back & laugh❣️

Like these new techniques your showing us. And I like how you test your theory to see the factual side. Don't need the most expensive stuff ie fluro to get those nice fish that hold up in the mangroves. I never knew mono can hold up better then fluro. Good stuff 👍

Hey Luke, it’s hurricane season and Tropical Storm Barry is heading for the Gulf Coast. Here in Pensacola, we deal with Tropical Storms and hurricanes quite often - not sure how much your area gets impacted. Would you consider doing a video about how tropical storms and hurricanes affect inshore and surf fishing, both before and after the storm? Thanks so much and keep up the great work.
@Saltstrong5 жыл бұрын
The pressure changes both before and after the big systems will often trigger a good bite. I prefer after they leave because all of the runoff will ensure that there is a lot of current which will typically generate feeding activity.

99% of my fishing from land. So instead of changing spots at what point do you feel changing the lure is what's needed before just giving up on the spot altogether?
@Saltstrong5 жыл бұрын
I'll change lures only after I try as much productive looking water as I can while trying various different retrieve styles/tempos without getting any strike in most cases assuming that I'm using a lure that I am confident in generating strikes for the given conditions (depth, current, structure, etc.)

In the mangroves I use 40 pound leader. It won't break, scuff, or get cut by mangroves as easy. 20 is fine in open water.
@Saltstrong5 жыл бұрын
It depends on what you're targeting. Unless the current is very strong, I stick with 10 lb braid main line with 20 to 30 lb leader (20 for reds and trout... 30 when targeting snook) as long as I'm focused on catching slot sized fish.
