How to catch Trout and Grayling on micro lures?

In this video you will see a short micro lure/SUL (Super Ultra Light) fishing session on a small river. This video also has an angle where fly fishing is compared to SUL fishing on tiny rivers.
One may state that SUL has all advantages over fly fishing except when it comes to presenting fly/lure on the top of the water.

Hi Andrew, brilliant videos as always. I've been trying this method with worm patterns and about 1g or two gram jig heads. I've found that I get many bites like twenty to thirty but only hookup with one fish out of this many bites. I've tried shortening the lures but many misses. Could you elaborate on the action you give the lures, the rate of retrieve etc? Thanks so much!

Another great video. I like the vanford 500 video also. I'm curious if you think the 5.6:1 and 143 g(by your scale) on the 500 has any advantage over the 5.1:1 and 150g of the 1000 Vanford? I also am very impressed by the English river and canal fishing!

I don't own Vanford at 1000 but from what I heard it feels like previous CI4+ Stradic (can't comment more). In my case it's about balance - I use that 500 Vanford on 56 g. rod and it makes sense to get the balance I like (1000 Vanford possibly would be too heavy). Cheers

@@AndrewsKnots Thank you for your response. The reels are virtually the same but the 1000 has 7+1 bearing instead 6+1. The 1000 is exactly 150g. I doubt the 7g difference would change any balance. Pike and perch are my favorite fish and your videos are dead on!

Yes, you are right, 1000 size won't ruin the balance with given rod (but it won't be improved either). Also, given rod is very slim and delicate, therefore tiny reel just looks better on it.
