I don't think so. He mentioned all the basics, which are the most widely applicable and therefore important; move along, work upstream, include the runs as well as the pools, be careful not to slip, use a light rod and light lures, keep the lure high to avoid snags, enjoy yourself and our wonderful country. What more do you need to know?

Always wash your hands before handling the trout or they would die They have very small scales if removed that's when they die

I catch most of them casting downstream

Completely valid strategy that lets you keep the lure in the water for a long time while using the current to give it great action. Slow retrieve downstream rarely fails me.

Me too. Casting upstream you get the fish hitting the spinner from the front, not from behind where the hooks are.

It largely depends which way along the stream you are working, up or down stream, and whether you are in the water or working along the bank. Walking in the water is best casting ahead of you, of course, so as not to disturb the fish. Many years ago I used to frequently sit high on the cliffside above the Lergerderg River near Bachusmarsh and watch the trout in the long shallow runs between the pools. I noticed many trout faced upstream while others faced different directions or just cruised about here and there. They have a very wide scope of vision so it probably does not matter much where the lure passes in relation to them. They probably see it almost anywhere around them. I noticed they tend to spread out, so as to be roughly equal distances between each other.

wetting his left hand but holding the trout with the dry hand, talking for ages before trying to reliese but dropped the fish

That's the problem of a right-hander winding with the left hand. 😂 It's unnatural. Steve would have had his right hand free to wet and hold the fish.
