I have seen in a number of your videos that you have a chum net over the side of the boat. Do you use oatmeal in that chum net or do you use other chum depending on what you are fishing for?
@GaleForceTwins3 жыл бұрын
Just regular chum! But only when we are anchored and fishing for snappers!
@oldguyrulesweyerman69553 жыл бұрын
I am going to use this the next time we loose the bite. I usually have a large pill bottle filled with old dried dog food in my bag. Fill a mesh bag and send it to the fish, but that takes forever to soften up. By the time it does the pike or turtles usually rip the bag apart. 👍🎣thanks for the idea. Fish on!!!

You know, when you fish for catfish in freshwater, you can use the same principle, except you use raw dough. It's called a "stinkball" and the catfish swallow and hold the stinkball in their mouths to put their scent on it. Have you tried the same thing with dough? It might hold up better in saltwater. In the past I would make stink bait with mostly flour , chicken livers , and oil so basically aged sourghdough chicken liver dough for fish and a few times I had to use oatmeal with flour due to running out of flour but it didn't seem to lessen the strength of the dough which when dough is done right it has lots of gluten in it which makes it strong like rubber . What I just told you is just an option to make it stay on your hook a little longer or another option is to wrap it up in panty hose which I may start using oatmeal in panty hose or using oatmeal ( maybe even use oatmeal/algae ) for cast net bait since it works so well for ya'll so Thanks in advance !

I love watching you two, I spent years of my life fishing the Keys ( and a small fortune) with no regrets. I would never say anything negative about others following my footsteps, so take this as something we can all learn from. I see you guys storing you hooks in the eyelets on your poles as opposed to putting your hooks in the eyelet stands. This can damage the eyelets and chafe your line, I learned the hard way. Keep up the great vids!

my two cents----shrimp is no bueno as it comes off too easily--the bonito ,squid or belly strips are better---mix a can of catfood in with the oats and you fortify your chum--add sand if you need it to sink quicker---once fish are behind the boat freelineing the small jig tipped with squid will do the trick and you can use the oats as chum a handful at a time---btw i also add glass minnows sometimes
