Holy Hell that coincidence!! Watched another of your videos last night about the 550. I've currently got my 78 CB550 engine stripped down with split cases and rusted con rods. Hopefully your vid might knock a few minutes off the rebuild time :P

I have everything off besides the flywheel on a 82' 650sc and the case the will not split for the life of it. Not missing any bolts. The flywheel should be in line with the crankshaft so not sure what is causing it.

Nothing in the bottom end needed to be machined. Now the top end is another story. Haven't assembled yet.

Nothing wrong with points, just require some maintenance every now and then. I have a dyna install on my channel if you want to go that route.

Bought new ones LOL. You can also vapor blast them. Or have them replated.

@@ryandrom7094 Some of the bolts were too far gone to restore (stripped threads and heads). Buying new, replating, or vapor blasting is the way to go.

Got a Nighthawk 650 85' and my 4th gear doesn't work. 5 and 6 work perfectly. Sadly the mechanic nearby doesn't really want to work on it since the bike is old and he believes a lot of rubbers and smaller components will break when disassembling the engine. So no I drive without a 4th gear :(

Yea , just got engine out and on bench, just want to be sure all the steps are on video , not split cases before !! all the top end is still intact. i,ll get the vid some time this week i think, i,ll be posting on sohc soon , got engine out on my own , no hoist , using planks and a milk crate !! what a weight . thanks for quick reply

Yeah, that sucker is heavy! The video will help you big time for your trans issue. Your lucky the top end does not have to come apart. Shouldn't be too bad of a job.

You have to assemble cases and install shifter and linkage. Run it through the gears like in the video.

Easier than the greasy old manual lol There's a reason I'm doing the work myself, it's because with 11 bikes, putting them in the workshop would be too expensive ahaha
