I feel like I wouldn't have spent so long figuring this out if I had seen this weeks ago! lol. The bobby pin idea is great, because when I was learning this, the loop was what came undone the most. And it's nice that you explained the over under the way you did, so many other tutorials get you all kinds of confused.

This was so helpful, thanks so much! The other vids I saw on KZbin trying to explain this knot were too fast, and their hands were blocking everything, but this was perfect :) thank you!

Thanks! Your video is so much easier to understand than many others, and it's great to see someone doing it on themselves, rather than a model - which is always easier! :)

If you have an extra 5 min and enough hair, a great way to make this even easier is to braid the sections that will form the knot. :)

Wow. You really are a great help. This hairstyle reminds me of Blair Waldorf's many complicated looking hair do's but you did it all so easy and taught us how to get it also done. Your are such a blessing. Thank you!

It took me a minute to realize she shaid "to make this knot as easy as possible", not "to make this NOT as easy as possible".. silly me...

I just did it with little english braids instead of loose hair, and found it way easier and a pretty alternative! Definitely recommend trying little braids, especially when you're first mastering the technique!

I don't even know why I'm watching these tutorials when the most complicated hairstyle I manage to do is a ponytail
@MightyMouse122210 жыл бұрын
It also looks pretty awesome if the sections are braided. This is my go to to jazz up a low side pony - with the sections braided tightly, you can space the figure 8 out to look even spiffier.
@MightyMouse122210 жыл бұрын
If you're really adventurous, do multiple braids and arrange them to lay flat next to each other... like a 3 stranded celtic figure 8 knot for macrame... it's pretty awesome.

Hi! I love your videos, but this one has me in a rut. I've tried to replicate this hair style for a few days and I think my hair type just doesn't work for it! I'm Asian, with straight slightly thick hair (mid back length.) It is also very...slippery. I tried adding styling products to my hair to help it not me so slippery but it not help. My loop that I pin, does not stay pinned (slips out of the bobby pin(s)), and my end result (a big...knot) does not stay in place by itself. Even when I pin the mess of hair to get it to stay, the hair does not stay in place. Any suggestions? Than you! ! Xoxo

I got the half up style easily enough, but I found the ponytail next to impossible. It just won't work on my fine, wavy, layered hair, even when I've flat-ironed it straight. It turns into a frizz knot on the back of my head, haha! Thanks for the well-explained tut! You were right, it does get easier once you get the hang of it.

Love the knot in the low ponytail! I am going to try this for church on Sunday. I have shorter hair than you so hopefully it will work. Also, since my hair is naturally wavy should I leave it in its natural state or straighten it? I saw that you had curled a bit of your hair so I was wondering. Thanks!

for a variation of the style: braid a rope braid on each side out of the chosen hair section and do the knot with the braids according to the instructions in the video it's actually easier because you don't have the struggle with loose hair and the knot looks really advanced and fancy

@FrootLoopKicker10 жыл бұрын
Stephanie, I set out to prove you wrong this morning, and you are absolutely right. I tried to do this on my thick, curly hair, and though I can repeat the steps back verbatim and have never had much of an issue with the other styles, after 30 minutes of trying I was late for work, and my hair was a mess. I ended up doing two rope braids on the sides of my head and tying those into a square knot above the pony tail... Note to curly girls: this one may not work for you!
@MeritCullen10 жыл бұрын
Lisa Runion You seem to be right. My hair is only shoulder length, and I thought that was the problem. However, when I did manage to make the knot, it just got lost with the curls and you could barely see it.
