You should always make sure you can remove the fill plug before draining the fluid.

You can just drive as you normally would.

Easier than expected, thank you. If the transfer case fluid has never been changed, would it be smart to drain the fluid, then refill the fluid, drive for a hundred miles or so, and change the fluid again?

I have an 11 el limited What fluid do I use for the transfer case? And which fluid should I use for the front and back differential?

It should be the same as the transmission. It should take 2-3 quarts to refill.

Not sure, it's probably around 2.5 hours of labor plus cost of the part.

I always remove the fill plug first just in case it gets stripped out before draining the transfer case.
