Good stuff mate, a few differences to changing a Ranger CV
@Beyondthebackyard-au3 жыл бұрын
Awesome, I have to replace my CV seals, I gather the seal replacement portion will be pretty straight forward, it was getting the shaft out I was keen to see.
@foordoffroad89153 жыл бұрын
Yeah mate after the shaft is out just pull the seal, clean the diff up and put a new one in Also it’s a lot easier if you top up the diff oil before putting the whole hub and everything back on

@@foordoffroad8915 Thanks. That’s what I thought you might say. Should you do both at the same time or just do the shagged one?

Up to you, I would do both and then keep the other one as a spare
@pavtrimble8062 Жыл бұрын
Your vid is fantastic, one thing though, when emphasising points for extra caution , pause what you're doing as the clanking from the job obscures important information, I lost a few things you said and it's too bad cos I was hanging on every word. otherwise easy to follow with no irrelevant shit, love it.

My inner is leaking also any reason you did not do the outer boot at the same time? Does the outer cv also pop off the same way? Thanks for the vid.
@foordoffroad8915 Жыл бұрын
The outer doesn’t come off, you have to remover the inner joint and then do the outside boot backwards The outer boot was about $90 and the customer was on a budget so only did what needed doing On my own car yes I would have replaced both why the shaft was out
@calholli3 жыл бұрын
You should really rotate it 180 degrees so that your strap buckle is on the opposite side of the first; counter balancing each other. It's not a big deal, but it's good practice.
@robarmstrong93010 ай бұрын
where did you get the boot kit and grease from? finding the right grease for the inner CV is proving a bit difficult

Thanks for the vid. Is there a chance of damaging the clip if you hammer it in? I can line up the spline, but, can't get further than the clip. Cheers.
@foordoffroad89152 жыл бұрын
If your talking about when putting the whole cv back into the diff?? Then yeah sometimes they are quite tight and a few good hits with a hammer will do it, won’t damage the clip but if you have one use a rubber mallet as you can damage the thread on the outer cv
@scottt34912 жыл бұрын
@@foordoffroad8915 Thanks heaps. Yeah, the whole cv. Was thinking about using a sledge, with a piece of wood in between and having the nut flush to protect the thread. As long as there's no chance of damaging anything else in the cv.
@foordoffroad89152 жыл бұрын
@@scottt3491 shouldn’t need to hit it that hard, sometimes it’s easier to get someone else to hold the diff end so it’s at the right angle (if it’s slightly off doesn’t matter how hard you hit it won’t go it) and you hold pressure on and hit the other end
@scottt34912 жыл бұрын
@@foordoffroad8915 Getting it straight on is probably where I'm going wrong. Thanks heaps, I'm going to have another crack after work. Much appreciated.
@lukeisit3 жыл бұрын
Able to do this without removing axle? If it’s only the boot holding the tripod in the cup. Although you did it so quick it’s probably easier having it out and in a vice
@foordoffroad89153 жыл бұрын
It is possibly yes but doing the clamp up afterwards is so hard to get it tight, worth the extra few minutes to pull it all the way out and change over in the vice
@lukeisit3 жыл бұрын
@@foordoffroad8915 Your not wrong. Just did it on vehicle and it’s tough getting all the grease in too. I had the genuine Toyota clamps so they were fairly easy.
