Bit, Chuck, Jaws, Collar - i didn't know any of these words before this video. i brought a drill six months ago and finally decided to try to hang my own canvas painting instead of continuing to wait as if helpless for my man or a handy man to do it. even the black and decker website and instructions did not include these basic instructions. for the life of me, i could not figure out how what i now know is called the "drill bit" was supposed to snap in place. this video explained that there are"jaws" that would reveal themselves once i rotated the "collar" and voila!...just like that they did and my small bit was held snugly in place. i hung my large canvas painting perfectly last night and was so utterly proud of myself for learning these few simple things in this short and simple video. just wanted to come here back and say thank you so much for this. never underestimate how such seemingly basic info. is needed by so many!! from the views on this video (over 1.5 million right now), i imagine that you don't! thanks again!

You are the man thank you sooo much for this video. I have always wanted to one day build my own home, yes I am a woman but I have always loved building things and working with my hands. I started to fix things for people in my family, like tables or bookshelves that they purchased but couldn't put together. at first they laughed at me because I love getting and keeping buy nails pretty. And they would all ask, how are you going to do this work with those pretty nails. lol! simple when I am building for fixing something, I love it so much that in that moment I don't care about my nails I just want to build. I finally purchased my first drill, while fixing things for others I usually just used what they have in their homes. anyway this video was very useful to me and encouraging, my pretty nails will not stop or get in the way of my building my projects. 😊

How do you avoid the drill bit from staying in a keyless chuck?
@adtvtxvafaee97995 жыл бұрын
I still get confused by how far do you insert the drill bit. Is the drill bit is inserted all the way to the back or do you stop before you hit the back of the drill.
@rockler5 жыл бұрын
For common twist drill bits insert the bit into the chuck far enough so that the jaws grip the round shaft of the bit near the base of the spiral cutting body. The chuck jaws should not come in contact with the spiral cutting edges. For bits with multiple flats machined on the shaft of the bit the jaws should be tightened so that they engage the flat surfaces securely.

@janedoe8053 жыл бұрын
I just figured out why l cannot insert the “Bit” into my “DeWalt DCF815 12V” it’s not actually a “Drill”. Apparently, it’s an “Impact Driver”! I don’t even know what an “Impact Driver” is! I’m recently widowed and l gave the majority of my Late Husband’s tools away to friends and family. I kept this “Drill” because, it was much lighter then the others! However, the main reason l kept this particular “Drill” was, it came with a lovely “Matching Canvas Carrying Case”! It was Black & Yellow with its name “DeWalt” on the side of the Bag. As soon as I started watching your video, I noticed my “Drill” *0:22 did NOT have a normal looking “Chuck”... And my “Drill” was missing those “3 Jaws”. So, I stopped your video and googled “DeWalt DCF815 What is this thing?” SURPRISE! It’s not a Drill! 😳🤦🏻♀️ I swear I can hear my Late Husband laughing at me all the way from Heaven! Thank you anyway and your video was informative and I gave you a 👍🏼 and subscribed.
