I noticed that the torque wrench clicked before the fasteners turned; this means that the setting on the torque wrench is wrong or the bolts are already torqued beyond the setting; and to make matters worse, after the click, the technician tightened the hardware even further. The hardware should be tightened until the torque wrench clicks, which is the set torque; anything beyond that, it is over the torque setting. Outside of this it is a good instructional video.

You are right, some points in the video were missed, but our channel is not educational but is only for informational purposes. We strongly recommend that all replacements be carried out exclusively at a specialized service. AUTODOC

I would have replaced the strut mount. They are like $20 made in Germany (Sachs, Lemforder). They are a common wear point on the strut assembly. I did notice you replaced the bump stop which is also recommended during this process.

you don't "have" to strip all the link arms to remove the strut, You can leave it all there, look it up, you can do both sides in 30mins

@Troy Blocker it's grease, it prevents rust build up, great thing for bolts on wheels or brake caliper as well

Great video on strut replacement…while the caliper was removed would’ve been a good time to replace the brake rotor and pads. The inside surface thickness of that disc is waay out of spec . Very efficient work on the strut !

I thought e39 struts had a rebound spring. These absorbers seem to extend out all the way. 🤔

Sadly in the real world, your mechanic will use an impact gun put everything back together. I've had heated discussions with mine and I don't think it's a great idea. He also re-uses brake pad clips too.
