A video which shows me replacing the timing belt on a replacement engine before it is installed into my Land Rover 90. The engine was out of a Discovery 1 with 80000 miles on it.

Delighted to see you slack the 3 bolts on the pump pulley. With the pump pinned, as you know, you need that variation to seat belt into teeth accurately. Have seen an experts video recently, and this necessary step was omitted. Having just done a 200 defender last week, i had referred to his video to remind me, as it had been a few years since I had done one. Interesting and clever move slackening cam stuff. I never did as with crank and pump locked, it was easy enough to hold with a ring spanner. The disco water pump bolts never provided the entertainment that the defender did, the 3 long ones. This os the real area of concern when doing a defender. they need to be heated at the block where they are seated. Sure as heck dont want to snap those out. Glad to say, i never did. And i have done a few of these belts over the years. Good show. You have better balance than i. The in the air engine wobbles somewhat.

Nice slick presentation, bit more lighting needed , but no excess waffle like some videos 😊
