HOW TO CHANGE A MANUAL SPRINKLER VALVE TO AUTOMATIC W/FIX IT NAT

Hi guys! In this quick and easy video I show you how to change an old manual sprinkler valve system into an easy automatic sprinkler system that can be connected to any sprinkler timer box. Your info was good, better than many, however, just in case one of your viewers simply discards going to HD to get a Orbit Auto Valve because of your caution, be advised I did just that. My manual valve was installed by my dad sometime in the 60's, so it is old. The 1" Orbit I bought from HD worked like it was made for the outlet. I had to heat up the old fixture to get it loose, but the entire task was accomplished in ten minutes. I put some teflon on the brass mounting and it was done.

Great video. Just for reference, that alecitrcial part is called an ELECTRIC VALVE ACTUATOR or sometimes referred to as ELECTRIC VALVE ADAPTER. Most residential projects will most likely have either a 3/4” or a 1” brass valve. Very rarely does residential go bigger than that size.

BTW...great video. I think I need to access the solenoid/valve compartment for my sprinkler system. Now 2 zones are not working. Going to check voltages and impedance in the control box just to see if it's electrical or mechanical. Hardest part i think will be the digging. I never accessed it before. It was installed by previous owner.

For those wondering: Yes, you will need to connect those solenoid valve wires from the new actuators to a control panel, which requires a regular GFCI plug.
