On my 2012 (10 years old), the spare was rusted almost solidly to the fitting on the end of the cable. Had to loosen it with a hammer and pry bar. Then the fitting didn't fit through the hole in the rim, because everything was slightly bigger due to the thick layer of rust. So more hammering, and the cable was probably weakened by bending tightly. Not a great design, but you can get it with some stubborn effort. Thankfully, I was in my driveway. Not sure I could have done it on a gravel shoulder. At night. In the rain or snow. Definitely worth practicing in good conditions, and maybe do something to control the rust!

for those asking how to remove the tire from the cable, the black metal piece remains attached to the cable. You just take the large black metal piece, turn it on its side and slide it through the center opening of the spare tire.

so I am in a controlled invironment (my garage) simply looking for the "triangle" that is supposed to be the contact point for the jack. Which is extremley vague and impossible to find as noted in the manual Not sure why the most important part of changing the tire was missing in this video. I guess the part that says my wife is supposed to get out of the car and hold the car off the ground while I change the tire was supposed to be there some place. . Now let's say that you are on a roadside with a flat tire, in the rain, with tons of cars whizzing by, and you pull your cell phone to get on you tube to get some helpful hints. None here

You'll definitely want the roadside assistance... it's a GM product. Had a GM product when I was a teen. Left me sit more times than I can remember. Swore I'd never get another. But in a moment of weakness, 25 years later I got a used 2012 Buick Enclave. You guessed it. Left my wife sit.

Word of advice. Go through the motions at home, in your garage etc to get familiar. I had to cut the pouch open to get the wrench out. The lining of the pouch had melted to the wrench. It would not come out. Even tugging with pliers. Pouch is now trashed. Another thing. Sand or file of any burs on jack and wrench. The tiny burs will slice your hands wide open handling these things. You'll bleed out on the highway ! Point is, just go through the motions at home. Better than being on highway trying to learn this. BTW, it took me longer to get the jack out ,cut open the pouch and dropping the spare than it would to change a tire like the good ole days. Days before changing a tire was a science.

joke... the scissor jacks I've used are worthless...you have to jack very close to max which is unsafe. Mine bent! Second jack wouldn't extend far enough to get the tire clear from the ground.

STUPID!!!! You didn't change a thing!!!! The owners manual shows the proper lift jack points (quote "find the triangular OR rectangular notch"), which this video never shows.
