How to Change a Spider Gasket or Filter Valve Gasket

Silicon may work, but you would have to let it completely dry to hold the gasket in. I have heard of techs using it and the gasket came right out, they didn't let it dry. Also the tech told me the gasket came out after multiple backwashes and then the repair had to be redone. So that's why I don't use it. With super glue, it dries within 10 min and then you can start the system again and know it's there and secure.

Either replace the whole key assembly section or you can get a rebuild kit to rebuild the internals of the key assembly center section.

I modified the tip of a thin screwdriver by bending it and sharpening the end.

If you have a valve like the one in the video that has a gasket glued into the track as shown, you can remove it and replace as shown.

How do you remove the glued in spider gasket? Mines stuck. No help from acetone, alcohol, razor. I'm getting to close to damaging the plastic with a razor.

I use a flat screwdriver with the end bent like I show at the end of the video. But yes, scraping the old one out and prepping for the new one is where the work is done on replacing a spider gasket.

Still, I am unable to get my gasket out and clean the surface and I’ve tried a blow dryer and alcohol solvent to no avail.what now?

That’s because this guy is an idiot. Never apply super glue to a gasket. The entire housing now has to be replaced.

Super glue? My pool company said never use super glue. It’ll cause a hardened buildup that will be impossible to get back out when you need a new gasket and would actually cost most to replace the entire housing.

The glue needs to cure some yes. You can always let it cure and then come back next day to turn system on.

If the handle was moved from closed to backwash to rinse and I forgot what position the handle was in when I removed the valve, putting the notches together will still be in correct position? Or did I screw myself

Line up the notch on the side of the filter valve top with the filter valve base, this helps everything line up.
