I can't get the impeller to release at all. Any other tips perhaps?

I had the same issue. Eventually, I slowly levered the plastic fan at the back with a flat screwdriver and used a pair of visegrips to hold the shaft and loosen the impellor with a screwdriver as shown in the video. Loosening the seal required a quick shot of Q20.
