How to Change and Replace Ceiling Downlights - Step by Step

This video is just what i needed for replacing downlights in my kitchen. Bought the units from Amazon as per your recommendation. However found that the 2 cables are too big to fit in the cable retaining system ( it is the ‘lock gate’ type). Only way I could do it is remove the terminal block from the box. Is it unacceptable to have the terminal block un housed in the ceiling? Any advice much appreciated!

That's great, but it would be better if you show how to get it out of the ceiling first. That's my issue

Best to turn all the power off as, especially in a hallway in older properties, you could have a borrowed neutral from the upstairs circuit ( or visa versa)...and although your circuit is off, if someone was to turn the other circuit light on you will get a nasty supprise via the neutral. It is usually when working upstairs you find this out....ha To be double sure turn the lot off.... And make sure the cable clamps inside fitting clamp onto the sheath of the cable not the inner cores...and there are no inner cores showing outside the fitting.
