PRO TIP!!!! Attach a cable tie to the wire on the back of the bulb, put a ring spanner under the bottom plastic tab and lean it away from you to pull it up up with the cable tie around your middle or 3rd finger. Push the top tab down with the 1st finger your other other hand and gently wiggle and pull while holding your breath and crossing every appendage of your body!🤣

Thanks for this video, helped a lot. Didn't need to remeove the air filter lid and completed both sides in 20 minutes. Did use the string tip around wires that someone had wrote in the comments.

just a quick point to save time the air box is onlly held in by two rubber clips it just pulls off easier than undoing the screws in the lid

Use the circle end of a small spanner on the passanger side. It can get the bottom end and use your finger for the top end. Worked a treat after trying to get it out with my fat hand. Useful video. Thanks

I used a flathead screwdriver to lever the bottom tab open then my other hand to press the top tab and with my arm levering the screwdriver I pulled the cable connected to the back of the light fitting to remove it, it was a hassle but it worked after a couple tried

Just done mine now and what I done was push one pin in, gently pull / tension on the wire and then done the other metal tab and same again, took about 2 or 3 goes with gentle tension and then it worked. I was farting around with trying them both together and with a screwdriver at first and it was useless, this was the passenger one as well!

The tabs actually broke on me when I used a pair of pliers ( gently!), But as long as you secure bulb and cap after seems fine.

Good video. These DRL burn out due to them being on all of the time. I'm on my 3rd set and the car is not even 6 year old. I have found you only need a pozi screw driver to do this job, take the fuse box lid to get into the passenger side drl but the drivers side you don't actually need disconnect the hose from the airbox cover, just undo the screws and connector then move to the side. To get them off i found it easier to squeeze my thumb and finger in to try and close the tabs then pull on the wire with my little finger

Just changed mine to leds, a lot easier on the astra gtc vxr 2014, no retaining clips, the bulb holder just unscrews a quarter of a turn then pulls out. Also no need to remove airbox cover but on the near side just remove the fusebox cover, took less than 10 minutes to do both, looks amazing now with bright leds.. Good video by the way.. :- )

For loosening the caps i recommend 11 inch 45 degree pliers.

update, I have managed to change the light but only after breaking one of the retaining lugs on the light fitting... I have refitted it with only 1 lug holding it, seems ok for now but time will tell. The problem with the passenger side is that you can move both lugs inwards but you cannot get any purchase to pull the light out..... is there a tool that could make it easier?

The "tool" you mention is the one who designed this fitment in the first place. It's absolutely moronic that it's nearly easier to strip the front of the car and remove the headlight cluster! I too broke off the lugs that hold the passenger side lamp. I found it makes very little difference, I just stuff it all back and it seems to hold in with the cover.

I did make a video on that side but there was nothing to see properly because it was in a tight space the camera and me trying to open you won’t be able to see anything, but the other side is a bit more tuff but you can change it but it takes more time.

There is an easier way. Just pull the airbox out of it clips and move the whole thing. Which varient and yr is the j your working on. 14 plate has the bulbs fitted to the cover. Also take out the washer fill tube for more access

Thanks for the video. Just managed to change my near side drl bulb without having to remove the bumper. Mine only had one clip on it for the benefit of others. The bulb is a 580 or sometimes referred to as T20. Euro Car parts have then £2.40 each for a Lucas brand bulbs.
