8yr old video and I think this helped me out more than any other video on a3’s on KZbin. Thanks!

You are supposed to remove the old Oil Filter first. This allows any residual oil to run down into the pan and get a proper full drain. Otherwise all of that left over used oil is just being added to the new clean oil and contaminating it.

I was thinking the same as well. Unless there is a reason not to do it makes more sense to me.

Residual oil will not run down into the pan, it need pressure , for valve relief.

I like to pour a little bit of fresh oil down when the drain plug is off to really clean it all out
@chris77777777ify3 жыл бұрын
Completely pointless. The new filter is for cleaning. In fact what you do is simply wasting valuable oil

Wrong on the 5 liter oil quantity! I just spent an entire afternoon dealing with an overfill because I blindly followed this guide instead of checking the manual and verifying the actual capacity. I dumped an entire 5 liter jug in after changing the oil and was way above the max fill on the dipstick. Sure enough the owners manual on my 2012 A3 TDI states clearly that the oil capacity with filter change is only 4.0 liters. Had to go buy a top side vacuum to suck out the extra liter of oil.

I fill about 3 3/4 leave then use the dip to get right, never blindly pour oil in easier to top up than take out.

You couldn't post a part number or pic of the three rear T30 torx bolts that hold the splash guard on could you. I can't find them anywhere. Thanks
