The brake pads and rotors on your 2013 to 2019 Ford Escape help slow your SUV down when you apply the brakes. As the brake pedal is depressed, the brake pads are pushed into the surface of the rotors, which slows the wheels or prevents them from turning to stop your Ford. Grinding or squealing sounds when braking or vibrations felt in the brake pedal are signs that your SUV needs a complete brake job, including new brake pads, hardware, and rotors. Park on a level surface.
Use a socket and breaker bar to loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels.
Jack up the front end … and put it on stands.
Chock the rear wheels.
Remove the lug nuts on the wheel where you’ll be working first… and take that wheel off.
Turn the steering wheel for easier access to the caliper.
Remove the rubber caps to access the caliper bolts… and use a 7mm socket to remove the bolts.
Use a flathead screwdriver to gently push the piston in enough for the caliper to be removed.
You’ll also use your screwdriver to pry off the old brake hardware.
Now, you should be able to remove the caliper from the rotor… and use your caliper hanger to suspend
it, making sure to keep pressure off the brake line.
Take the old pads out of the caliper.
You can pry them out with your flathead if needed.
Use an 18mm socket and breaker bar to loosen the caliper mounting bracket bolts… and a ratchet to take them off completely.
Set your mounting bracket aside for now.
Remove the rotor from the hub.

Aren't you supposed to put it in service mode before changing the brakes & then exit mode after? I'm genuinely asking because I have a 2015 Ford Escape and not one Mechanic has mentioned this without falsifying the brand or year. The Chilton book says to put in service mode. The 2015 Ford Escape (I have) doesn't have an emergency brake on the console, it's on the dash. Please help Sir🙏 Because the dealer wants $90 just to look at it, when I can do the brakes myself; I just need to put it in "service mode".

Good vid, I use anti-seize or Fluid Film after cleaning the hub but the silicone seemed like a good choice as well 👍🏽

You need your brake pads and roots replaced the "squeaking" is a warning device, used to let you know the friction material on your brake pads is getting thin and they need to be replaced. Hope this helps.

The rears have to be turned in and the brakes need to be put into servicing mode.
