I just want to say thank you. You are a Zen-like master in this field of work and you made my life easier today. I'm a decent mechanic but as the decades have rolled by, cars have become more complicated; therefore, having a mentor such as yourself makes fixing stuff much less difficult. You have been generous with your knowledge and that is a sign of a good human being. Thanks again, G. D. McFetridge

Well done. Thanks. Clear, concise, good camera work, good narration and explanation. I was pretty sure I knew how to do this, but I wanted to make sure there were no surprises. Not all brake caliper retraction is that simple on ford. The 06 Freestyle needs a special tool to rotate the caliper counter clockwise on one side and clockwise on the other - can't remember which. Regardless, and pardon the digression, thanks.

When snapping/breaking pieces of metal with cutters, wearing safety glasses is a must. Any time material can break or throw off dirt, it's a good idea to wear safety glasses. When making sparks on a grinder, wear safety glasses.

Absolutely! Safety glasses are essential for protecting your eyes from flying debris and sparks. It's always better to be safe than sorry!

Thank you for posting this video! Been awhile since I've changed out brakes. Have a 2011 Ranger Sport 4x4 and the brakes have roughly 1500 more miles on them. Thanks for explaining in detail how to change them out.

Do you lube the caliper pins or did I miss that? Thanks
@HomeownerRepair2 жыл бұрын
Yes, the caliber pins should have caliper pin lube put on them before putting them back in place.

I don’t have many tools and can’t really afford to see a mechanic for this, but I’m really struggling to break those bolts.. original rotors, 220k miles.
@HomeownerRepair2 жыл бұрын
Try to spray them with some penetrating oil it usually helps to free up rusty bolts. Your local auto parts store should have some. Hope this helps you out.

Did this vehicle have a hub assembly? When I pulled the rotors off my 2007 ranger, my wheel bearings came off too.
@HomeownerRepair3 жыл бұрын

PLEASE HELP. AFTER SWAPPING OUT NEW ROTORS AND PADS THE ABS LIGHT AND ELECTRIC SLIP LIGHT IS ON……. Sensor looks fine…. BRAKES AMD ROTORS FEEL FINE…,PLEASE ADVISE ON HOW TO CLEAR ABS LIGHT
@HomeownerRepair3 ай бұрын
There may be a little bit of crud on the sensor. See if you can clean it off, also inspect the ABS sensor wire for damage.
@nateman793 ай бұрын
@@HomeownerRepair I cleaned the sensor…. looks brand new. disconnected and reconnected…. Disconnected the battery to reset the system. Fuse not blown.. The backs of the duralast rotors are different looking than the factory rotors…. so I’m wondering if that affects how the speed sensor reads the wheel spin? I’m obviously not a mechanic, …. A new sensor cost 50 bucks. If I knew that would fix it I would go that route, but the sensor looks flawless . Also, the on off button for the electronic slip doesn’t work now…. Open to any suggestions.
@nateman792 ай бұрын
@@HomeownerRepair I replaced the sensor and it cleared for about two minutes and the brakes were grinding when I stomped on them. I finally took my last option….. took the rotor back and replaced it. ABS and slip light WERE GONE before I got out of my driveway! . it was a damn defective rotor.. moral of the story is inspect New parts you get from AutoZone
