If you have broken belt you will not have suction. The vacuum will turn on but not suck anything up. You will need to follow the steps to change the belt. This same technique works on nearly any vacuum.

Yeah I bunch of people just throw them out when they get a clog in the hose or the belt breaks. Amazing how easy it is to fix most of these

I thought the problem was strands of hair or strings were stopping my vacuum but then i realize it was the belt itself as i dismantle and see the real problem..thank you for this video i really appreciate it!!

Order some belts online. You can usually buy them in 2 up to 5 packs. You will need a new one and should have a spare on hand. Ebay/Amazon... Best of luck.. Vacuum stores also carry them and some box stores have a few on hand, but may not be what you need. Ebay or amazon with you specific vacuum model number will probably be your best bet, or take your vacuum to a vacuum store and they'll hook you up

Yeah it's a cheap fix and most people just trash their vacuum and buy another $75-200 vacuum instead of replacing a $3-5 belt. Glad it helped you out! I appreciate the comment

I believe the belt breaks because it's mounted directly to the drive pin that gets too hot due to friction... A poulie would do the job better

Dont forget to put the guide wheel back down before applying the brush cover or you will have to remove the cover again and put the wheel down first. I pulled that boo-boo on just a cleaning episode.

Well it was helpful but my vacuum almost caught on fire... it was smoking. I checked everything and the new belt I put on burnt off and also my bristle roller burnt off too. 🙃 at this point I feel like I need a new one.

I thought I was putting the belt on wrong because when I changed it, the belt broke again. I noticed on your video that your end black piece on the roller brush on the belt side was able to turn. Well, mine wouldn't turn like the other side would so the roller brush wouldn't turn. I pried off that black plastic end and it was so gunked up with stuff it wouldn't let it turn. I got it turning again after arduously cutting all that debri out behind the black plastic. So it wasn't the bad belt it was a clogged roller brush at one end that broke the belt

Thanks for this comment! I found my belt to be fine yet know that the brushes were no longer spinning and it was smelling like burning rubber. Mine, too, would not spin on the belt side. I took your advice and removed the cap to unearth so much hair!! I’m having difficulty getting it all. It’s wrapped up underneath the metal turner. Any suggestions? I might try a soak in drano. 😬

Make sure the roller is free of hair. Also if any large debris gets caught in there. Also sometimes the brush needs to be replaced. I have also bought cheap/weak belts on Amazon before the didn't last long.

You have something freezing up your brush. The motor is trying ti spin the belt and the belt isn't spinning, so the belt rubber is getting hot and melting.

Note sure this will be seen, not another commenter remarked that it wasn’t their belt after all. They also noticed the brush wouldn’t turn but only on the belt side. Taking off the cap, they noticed it was full of debris prohibiting it from turning. Try this!!
