I had the same thing happened to mine re: the "little silver piece." It looks like some kind of a U-shaped clip. It's flat on the bottom and has both ends flaring out. Does that ring a bell to anybody?

Congratulations on giving that Vacuum of reprieve from the dump. Over the last 10 years, I have salvaged dozens of mainly Dirt Devils, Hoovers, Eurekas, and Bissells from dumpsters. The latest one I have is the exact same model as the one shown in this video, a Dirt Devil "PowerMax Carpet + Hard Floor PET", model UD76710V. Both hoses were clogged. So I cleaned it out and it "runs and drives" as the belt was not broken on this one. Though it is missing two of the three attachments. Such is very common with trashpicked vacuums. But mine also had that little silver piece that is U-shaped fall off. Anybody know where that goes?

It's a shame, too many things that can be easily fixed and maintained are being thrown away in favor of new, often poorer quality replacements.

I very much appreciate this video I haven’t opened up my vacuum yet fingers crossed it works out mine was smelling of burnt rubber and the owners manual said it might be the belt 🤷🏼‍♀️

I took mine apart COMPLETELY to clean it.... I do not recommend lol. But definitely needed this video for the belt part. I couldn't figure out why it was small also thought I bought the wrong one.
