wow all of that for the cabin air filter. The dealer told me it was scheduled for change and I declined it. They told me it would be $100, but youtube is always an option. Thank you for the video! Owning a cruze is nothing like owning my Rsx. I had to remove the whole tail light to change a bulb on my cruze lol. Thank you! :)

Thanks4 showing us this. Also works for 2017 Cruze. Wut Genius designed a part that needs annual replacement, where 1/2 the dash must be disassembled? The plastic tabs, clips & panels involved don't have an unlimited "wear & stress points" life to sustain this job repeatedly. Geniuses who redesigned this car in 2016 & had every opportunity 2make this easier, as it is in most other cars. After 3 years, tabs will break off. Panels won't fit tightly & things will rattle. They should get a punch in the NOSE!!!
@DanPellegrino4866 жыл бұрын
The recommend interval is probably very aggressive. Depending on where you live and how much air you flow through the HVAC you will probably have a shorter interval. My Impala got changed once in three years, but checked annually. It was only dirty when I bought the car, and replaced once. I'm expecting a bi annual change on this filter. Edit - Just checked, the service interval for 2017s is 2 year or 22,500 miles.
@junkiexl866 жыл бұрын
Yea and that's the thing. Sure they get dirty, but I found I only bothered changing them when I noticed the air flow getting really restrictive. i.e the air blowing out of the vents is about half as powerful as a new one. Which is usually about 2-3 years of daily driving.
@Coupydog6 жыл бұрын
Note: We cannot compare an Impala, which is a sensible 5 min job (drop & release glove box door, open filter compartment & replace) to this.

This is a cute car, but the people who designed this crap need to be blacklisted from ever engineering anything ever again. Never mind that you can't actually put anything in the glove box without it falling out. And you have to literally break your arm to try and use the storage compartments in the door. Sorry about the rant, but I really do appreciate this video!! Well done!!

No reassembly? Would have been nice to see everything go back into place and if there was any struggle to do that.
@thereelmccoy1440 Жыл бұрын
This is a good video. This approach works but the process can be done by using the tabs inside the glove box. The glove box can be dropped down and then pulled out easily without removing all of the panels. I owned a '98 VW Beetle, and the dealership I bought it from once replaced my headlamp by removing something like 4 parts to complete it. Turned out, there was a tab on the side of the light housing that only needed to be slid down and the whole lamp pulled out easily.

Thanks very helpful! I just changed mine with a K and N cabin filter. Recommended clean every 12,000 miles or once a year with their cleaner and reuse for long time. Austin you change or replace factory one every 22,500 miles. K and N one is $40-$45 and you clean and reuse. I bought K and N engine air filter too.

I looked & couldn't find any how to videos on a 2016/17 Chevy Cruze . I decided to dive in , change the filter & make a video to help others . Thanks for the heads up on K&N, I've used their filters for years but didn't know they did the cabin filter. Think I'll try the K&N next time . Thanks again for the tip & for watching !
@junkiexl866 жыл бұрын
12k miles? lol. A year in and those little plastic tabs on the panels will be shot, meaning they either don't secure as tightly (loose rattling panels) or don't even secure at all from all that constant filter changing. No thanks, I'll just stick with a good WIX/OEM and change it when the air coming out of the vents is noticeably weaker vs new filter, which is usually about 3-4 years of daily driving as noted in my previous car a 2012 Mazda 6. I stopped using K&N air filters after having a lot of issues with oil buildup on the MAF sensor causing all kinds of issues. Not sure if the cabin filter is oil based too.

@@junkiexl86 Just what you DON'T want, a junk K&N cabin filter you have to clean!
@mikeceli2 жыл бұрын
The whole concept of cleaning, instead of replace an air filter is FLAWED. Great way to cut your engine's lifespan, do to poor filtration and worse, what sneaks onto the "clean" side, when you "clean" the filter.

You would think by now car manufacturers would learn to just put an access slot/panel in the back of the damn glove box for quick easy access...... They go out of their way to make the glovebox all uniform and neat when everyone just throws junk into it. I mean who is showing off their car and is like "Check out my glovebox bro!" No one, cause no one cares, so a little access slot/panel is not going to ruin "the look" that too many manufactueres care about.
